One I think I'd nominated for underrated (or at least, "doesn't get as much credit as he should"): Fred Gwyne.

    Yes, Herman Munster.

Yes, he has a very distinctive voice. But the films I've seen him in, I've been impressed with his job.

    Another I'd nominate: Roddy McDowell.

Yes, he has another distinctive voice. And every time he opens his mouth I think of Planet of the Apes 1-6. But I'd even lits the Apes movies as a demonstration of his ability. To me, any actor who can make you like him while wearing all that goop on his face deserves some credit.

No ****ing way! Pacino is the man! He's had so many great performances. And sorry, don't agree that Clooney is underrated.

Overrated: Keanu Reeves, Freddy Prince Jr.
    Underrated: William Shatner

Umm.... and you think Shatner is underrated? Guy is one of the worst actors ever - hell the reason he still gets jobs is because its kind of a running joke that he's bad.

And sorry, Pacino used to be great - but that train left the station a LONG time ago.

edit: and Clooney is the man, but kind of has the pretty boy label stamped on him - like Brad Pitt, who is also very underrated.

Underated: Sam Rockwell. My favorite movie of his is Safe Men, which also might be the most underated movie. He was also pretty funny as "Guy" in Galaxy Quest.

    Overated: most actors

The rest of the world is crazy, and I am the only sane one. Go watch the end of Star Trek II again.

    Name one bad Pacino performance.

He has no range. He is the same character in every movie except "O' Brother Where Art Though," which I thought sucked. Batman & Robin was probably his worst performance though.

I'm a lifelong Trekkie. I have owned four Starleet uniforms. I've appeared in public wearing them. (At charity events and the like.) I understand that I was one of three fans present at the World Premier of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. (I still consider it my favorite Trek movie.) I watched the TV show. When it wasn't reruns.

And let's face it. James Kirk was the only role he ever did where his performance was decent. (Although, I've heard that he did a good job for The Twilight Zone, that I haven't seen.)

I think I have two .wav files of him singing, though, if you'd like 'em e-mailed.

I happen to really enjoy his portrayal of Captain Mortars in Loaded Weaon I. But I agree that it is absolutely ridiculous to say he's underated.

Agree about Shatner, agree about Pacino.

Clooney's pretty good and all, but he won an oscar just a month ago. So, I don't really think you can say he's underrated. Underrated indicates low rating.

Although I imagine that you'll come and say "What are you talking about? That was great." At which point I'll start ignoring you, because people who believe things apart from all reason are insane, and not to be argued with.

I think Hollywood likes him okay - but when you talk to a lot of people they don't really give him the credit i think he deserves. Like i said, i think a lot of people write him off as a pretty boy.

Let's not forget 'Any Given Sunday' and that betting movie he made.

Apparantly you never watched TJ Hooker. Seriously, that episode of the Twilight Zone is worth checking out. They did a remake of it with John Lithgow, which was not as good.

And, no thanks. I have heard Mr. Tambourine man and it's just plain torture. I never said he was a good singer.
