Chris Ray throwing a breaking ball that kissed the black with the count full, bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, two outs and Matsui completely froze. Wow, what a game. I was on the edge of my seat. Ray's confidence just exploded after tonight IMO.

that pitch took guts... Matsui was right to be upset, but honestly, when you are losing and you could take a hack at a close pitch sometimes you have to do it... those last 2 called strikes on him really were too close for him to be taking.

on the other hand, Ray seems to be developing Randy Meyers disease.... for those who don't remember, Meyers disease effects the teammates and fans more than it does the infected pitcher, what happens is that while he gets the job done, he gives heart attacks to everyone else.... :P

yeah that game was a tad bit scary, prolly the scariest moment of his life on that 3-2 pitch.

Matsui was foolish not to flick that one foul and make Ray throw one more. That pitch was probably a little less than a ball outside, but with the bases loaded and a 3-2 count (after a check swing that was OH so close), you gotta earn your run.
