Default Kyle Laughlin wins Unsung Hero Award!!!

Gambrills, Md. native Kyle Laughlin, son of Capitals' color analyst Craig Laughlin, recently completed his first season of NCAA Division I hockey at Providence College. Laughlin’s rookie campaign was a success both on and off the ice as he led all Providence freshmen in goal scoring (9), won the team’s Unsung Hero award and garnered the team’s academic award by posting a 3.66 GPA.

O.K. so this is not really big news but I used to go to school with this kid and he is a nice guy, good friend and a great hockey player. He played on our highschool team. He won't go to the NHL because he is old but I thought I would put this on here for respect to my friend Kyle. Did not know he was that smart though, 3.66 is tough to do. I bet he took intro to basket weaving.
    Hail to them!

Congrats Kyle. It is always nice to hear good things about people who have some connection to your organization, no matter how tenuous it may be.

Why do you say he is to old to make it to the NHL. Most players don't make the jump to the NHL until 23 or 24 and if you are just a role player you can be a little older. Only the real superstars make it younger.

Freak and Peak... Sorry for the Delay in the response. I am in Europe and have not been able to access my email in a long time. I say that he is too old because I talked to him the other day and he told me that he is probably to old for the NHL. He is a 22 year old freshman right now. He will not graduate until he is 26. He might get drafted but I doubt it. The kid is great and he will be successful, it just might not be in Hockey. Anyway, his father is famous amoung hockey fans throughout the U.S. The Bisket in the Basket is bigger than anybody can imagine. Good luck next year Providence and maybe he will get a draft consideration in a few years.
    Hail to them!
