    dks,
The lots make for superb tailgaiting. I suggest arriving a few hours early with lots of beer and food, maybe a table for beer pong. You can also easily sneak liquor in if you don't wanna spend a bundle on ballpark beer and possibly use it as a pregame. My friends and I usually each take a half-fifth and put it between our belts and our "lower backs," haha. Certainly makes the games that much better.

Definitely would NOT leave your car there if you plan on heading to a bar or club after the game. Number one, you might get towed. Number two, there are some shady neighborhoods nearby. Just my 2 cents.

Enjoy the game, I might be going. It's 6-pack cooler night. If you need advice on places to go in the area (Eastern Market/Capitol South is your best bet), lemme know.

I came out of a Redskins game once, and 4 vehicles not far from mine had their hoods swiped, grills, front quarter panels and batteries removed. One even had the engine removed. 3 of them were isuzu rodeos . I only saw it once, but the stadium IS in SE DC.

The Nats website says they open 2 hrs before game time. I thought that was awfully short, so I called the ticket office and they said 2 hrs. However, I got to lot 8 before the Cubs Sunday game about 1 3/4 hrs before game time and the lot had a ton of cars in it. My guess is they are opening earlier than 2 hrs, but only claiming 2 hrs. You might want to try posting this on the Nats website.

You MIGHT be able to leave a car there a little longer after a Sunday day game as they let kids 12 and Under run the bases after the game (plus it is daylight too). My friends kids ran the bases after the Yankees game and they did not get on the field until about 35 mins after the game ended (plus there were a ton of kids behind them).

I've found that Lot 8 opens about 3 hours before Friday and weekend games but only 2 hours before weeknight games. Definitly do not leave your car in the parking lot after the game. You will find yourself walking a great distance in the dark though RFK's parking lots, all of which are gated shut 2 hours after the last out. Remaining vehicles are likely towed. Don't chance it.
