Wink PJ Ramos & Blatche R They Ready Now

I know there has been many threads on these two young atheletes, boasting of there raw talent and great physicall builds. I wanted to know does anybody thing that Ramos and or Blatche is ready to step on this Wizards sqaud of big men which is already in my mind poor. Can they come into next season and maybe battle with anybody for a starting spot or even a significant role.

Your correct. There are many threads about this that answer your question. Why clog up the board when your question is already answered?

EJ has been quoted as saying that Ramos is moving along but still hasn't developed into everything that they wanted. A lot of scouts have also said that if Ramos had waited and entered in this draft, he would have been a lottery pick. Ramos is still a project in my eyes, but in he is someone who has all the tools to be a good center. Here is an article:

    http://www.examiner.com/a-167979~Big...s_big_man.html

Blatche is a very young player, but he has all the physical abilities you could ask for. There were times last year when he made some great plays, but lets not be quick to forget what happened to Kwame. Granted Kwame didn't work for anything, but we didn't help out in his development either. Blatche has to gain MUCH more experience before he can start to contribute on a regular basis. When he learns to combine his physical ability with good knowledge of the game, he will be a great player.

Neither Blatche or Ramos are ready to start this year, but they may be able to contribute some. It is still too early to gauge how much they will be able to contribute. I believe the best way for them to get minutes is to sure up their defensive skills and rebounding skills.

    Short answer is no.

Blatche is closer to ready I think. He's a more natural athlete.

    PJ is just tall still.

Ramos right now would produce more than Etan could. He'd certianly provide more than the 14 assists Etan had all of last year.

If we had some good players I'd understand this talk about them not being ready. The problem however is that we have nothing at center. If you are going to suck at the spot anyway, may as well get some young guy experience.

By what was said by EJ....PJR has alot to prove this offseason and he has not been impressive so far. Pecherov and Blatche have impressed quite a bit though. PJR should start thinking that he has alot to prove to overcome Pecherov. I think Haywood will be traded for Magloire with Etan and a second round pick. So we will have a couple of spaces to fill and Pecherov will get one...Navarro might get the other. Blatche will take Etan's place and prove a huge upgrade. Magloire might see himself on the bench as a 6th man. That is a luxury if you have to choose between two good C's and 2 good PF's.

This year the lineup could be:

    Gil
    CB
    AJ
    Blatche
    Magloire/Pecherov

    Or

    AD
    Gil
    CB
    AJ
    Mag/OP

    Or

    Gil
    CB
    AJ
    Mag
    OP

From all indications so far Andray has progressed more than Peter. They both have done well to increase their strength and body muscle. They are both working hard. Andray has more natural talent and Peter has more natural size.

As far as them being contributors this upcoming season or fighting for a starting job. I think Andray might see some starting time later in the year or if someone goes down with an injury. I don't see Peter starting this year unless we do trade Brendan and Etan this offseason (which is highly unlikely to trade them both). I can see Andray averaging around 15-20 minutes next year and Peter averaging around 5-10 minutes.

Blatche will most definately fight for a starting spot and at least be a rotational player. Don't think for a minute that our dealings with Jared aren't completely based around the progression of Blatche this past offseason. Hopefully he can stay "bullet free" this offseason. He is much more the guy Averaging 28 points, 17 boards, 6.5 blocks, 2 steals a High School game than the guy who struggled in NBA workouts and interviews and plummeted because of the same things that sent Andrea Bargnani to the top.
We stole one here guys and most of the NBA knows it.

As far as Oleksiy, I think so, but how much of a role depends on his ability to learn and function in our schemes, I couldn't predict that. Experts give it a big so I'll take that - but not quite to the bank.

As far as PJ, if he continues to play the way that he did in the NBDL playoffs and the 2nd half of the NBDL season, the way that NBA TV said had scouts projecting him as a high lotto pick in this past draft if he was a sophmore coming out of college instead of an NBAer entering his 3rd year.

The only thing with PJ is how is his study habits/maturity. It seems good, but who knows? If he dominates summer league against lesser competition for the most part, or at least plays consistently then yes.

If it makes you feel any better they made PJ Ramos the captain of the team, which says a lot since guys like Blatche and Donnel are there also.

Eddie has never said anything bad about how PJ looks now Clathel, he actually said he looks very good - in fact he made him the captain.

He was talking about last summer and the beginning of last year. By the NBDL he was looking very good, and has worked very hard this summer. It was the newspapers saying "make or break" eddie himself said he wouldn't call it a "make or break" thing. Just media hype. The kid turned 21 a month ago for christs sake!

Don't leave out Etan either if he could just have one relatively healthy season we would win 10 more games that year, and whoever we may get in a trade with Haywood.

I have a feeling they are going to watch PJ play in the Vegas league before trading Haywood, to see what they are going to try and get.

PJ is enormously physically gifted, he really is. At 21 years old it is time for him to start playing up to it, there is no reason he should be behind guys like Etan or Calvin Booth.

As far as I'm concerned, Ernie told Eddie this past playoffs, "Eddie you are starting Haywood, I don't care that Etan was playing better and Brenda is a biznitch, he will plummet in value if people don't think he is worth enough for us to play in the playoffs."

Interesting point about watching Blatche and Ramos's progression before making moves. I like the idea of it.

However, as you consistently point out, both of these guys are veeeeery young and veeeeery green. I would be concerned about throwing them into major roles on a team that is playoff poised. Haywood had a couple of great games last year (including that explosion in game six) and when he gets early touches, he sets an offensive tone that usually leads to victory. If Ernie was forcing Eddie to keep 'wood in the starting lineup to increase his offseason value, that would be very dubious and not something a playoff team would do. Haywood already has a ton of value now with his manageable contract, 7-feet of height and shot-blocking abilities. Look how much money is thrown at Centers for being relatively competant. Look at what Van Horn and Dampier were making last year!

I am all for increasing PJ and 'dray's minutes, but considering them key cogs to the team's performance next year is too lofty.

    And LOL at
Hopefully he can stay "bullet free" this offseason.
can you imagine an ESPN guy saying that? Or having that on a draft profile: "Needs to improve: Bullet dodging"

I vote to have XxspearheadxX replace Mike Wise at the post.
