Yup, Faber's surpassed Florini territory.
Yup, Faber's surpassed Florini territory.
Faber should just retire.
MMA has changed since the days he was the champ. Everyone is too calculated and aware now. Faber is in a reach disadvantage against almost everyone, and they all know how to exploit it like crazy.
Every Faber title fight seems to go the same way now, he gets a few good hard shots in but never follows it up with anything, and then his opponents is able to land punches from their range at will.
It's sad because MMA hadn't blown up yet during his prime and he had a hell of a run and as usual everyone who wasn't watching until 2-4 years ago will break out the 'overrated" and "exposed" BS about him. The sport has just evolved.

That was without a doubt the worst main card I have ever watched. Barao easily won using the Aldo game plan but not quite as good as Aldo. But what is it with guys just trying to out point people now? At no point did anyone on the main card look like they were trying to finish a fight. That is not good for the UFC and MMA in my opinion, if you are that good as Barao clearly is why not try and finish the fight. Nobody took any chances tonight and none of the fighters fought with any urgency. That is one thing I miss about the really old school fights. One of my all time favorite fights was Graice vs Sakuraba in 2000.
I'm not too good at this sort of thing but I'll take a stab at it, what do you guys think:
Lombard/Cung Le
Belcher/Boetsch
Palhares/Munoz
Sonnen/Belfort
Bisping/Stann
Anderson/Weidman
The paperview was terrible, the prelims were awesome
I think there are simply too many events these days. Fighters have a trouble staying healthy and we end up with cards like this. I'm happy with the way the sport has grown but we may be seeing the side effects of such rapid success.
This is definitely a sudden dip for the UFC and MMA as far as popularity is concerned.
Moving their regular programing from Spike to FuelTV has been a gigantic factor. So much less exposure. I also think it was great for the sport to have the WEC on Versus all the dang time. Same with Strikeforce and EliteXC on the networks. Yes, Kimbo drew in a lot of fans, believe it or not. Although I don't think many people would be willing to admit it
I literally don't see anything but Bellator when flipping through channels anymore. Those cheesy ass Fox commercials aren't enough to get me by. And even when I do get FuelTV, how many other people have it? Is it going to be channel 480? MMA is just not on the first 100 channels like it used to be.

DC Sports: The Curse Is Real
Sounds like I picked a good night to miss a card. I haven't seen any of the fights yet, I just read the play-by-plays and they sounded super boring.
This is definitely true. It's just another reason to bring the Strikeforce guys (and girls) over to the UFC. It would help deepen the divisions and strengthen PPV cards.
Palhares is fighting Yushin Okami at 150,I think winner of Stann Bisping should fight wiedman for # 1 contender, Chris needs a big PPV fight before a title shot, all others I like which leaves Munoz free to fight. Maybe pair him with cung le/belfort in Macau in November,or let Lombard fight Belfort or drop down to 155 or less (easy, cut off one pectoral and one lat) and let Chael fight Wandy Silva.
I think now you have a top 3 (2 really) in Chris, Bisping/Stann, then the next tier is Belcher & boestch, Chael, Yushin & Belfort are there too, but no one wants to see those guys fight Anderson, maybe Vitor if he gets 2 big wins. Rounding out the list are Palhares, Munoz and Lombard for now IMO
I think all is on hold until the New Year as I'm pretty sure Dana is going to push hard for Anderson/Jon Jones at Jerrah's wonderpalace in God Forsaken Dallas. Lombards horrible showing really threw a wrench into the mix, and Silva Sonnen 2 only doing 1 million PPV buys really hurt the next 3 guys inline unless they can string together 2 impressive wins.

UFC typically likes to match up winners vs. winners and losers vs. losers. That said, How about:
Lombard/Wandy
Franklin/Clung Le
Belcher/Weidman
Boestch/Munoz
Sonnen/Belfort
Bisping/Stann -already booked
Palhares/Okami -already booked
Give the winner of Belcher/Weidman Anderson. Bisping and Stann have both lost too recently to get a title shot so quick. Especially compared to the streak the winner of a Weidman/Blecher matchup would be on.
Extremeskins UFC Undisputed Champion Xbox ID: Sebowski77. Just bring it.
I thought Matt Riddle was actively trying to finish here and there, and his opponent was swinging for the fences. That was about it though. I used to feel slightly guilty about streaming the fights online rather than paying, but garbage cards like this make me reconsider.
I was just reading through some RG3 articles on the Post website and came across this pic:
It's Chuck in a Bryce Harper jersey hanging out with Tyler Clippard...apparently Chuck threw the first pitch out in a game back in May, I had never even heard of this.
