Thumbs Down Season Tickets - Upgrades - The Waitlist - No Rhyme or Reason

    Yeah...it's whining time.....

I don't understand how the ticket office works. (Yeah....who does? )

I've had my request,(in writing), to upgrade for years. I'm in section 431. I did get moved down last year, from row 29 to row 15, which was pretty cool. (431 is on the goal line, on the visitors,(sunny), side of the stadium.

Whats puzzling, and somewhat annoying, is that the ticket office tells me that they have no upgrades available, yet every year people come off the wait-list and get better seats that mine! What's up with that?

Why, or how, do new season ticket holders get seats on the 30-40 yd line, while fans who have requested, and have been waiting, for upgrades are still in and around the end-zones? This really irks me.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it just me?? Does that make me a shallow, pathetic person for feeling this way? (probably!)

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for the new ticket holders...I know, first-hand, the joy of finally having your number come up. There's nothing like the feeling of going to your first game, as a ticket-holder.

To all you non-ticket holders who read this and think, "yeah, right...quit your pissin' and moaning, at least you're lucky enough to have tickets!"

You're right, I am lucky and I do realize it, however, if everyone was always happy with the "status quo", we'd all still be living in caves......

At least you have tickets...somehow, in the last 12 months, I have went from 65,000th on the list to 69,000th.

I have the same problem. I always try to upgrade my seats and every year they tell me to do something which was different from previous years. I always do it, and then I don't move up. I am in the LAST ROW in the corner of the end zone. Why don't I move up at all?

I was upgraded to "the cave", section 200, obstructed view. So you want an upgrade huh? Some upgraded back to the 400 sections.

Just kidding, I feel your grief, I noticed long ago that new ticket holders were getting better seats. I use to get tickets from a friend when at RFK and there seemed to be some logic to ticket holders leaving, others moving down to their seats and new ticket holders getting their seats. I don't know how that was managed but they did.

I was upgraded 18 rows last year so I thought I would get an upgrade this year--even a smaller one. But I heard nothing. Wierd.

True...(read the last 2 lines of my post) Moving from 65,000 to 69,000???? I addressed that in the title thread. I can certainly sympathize with you.
    Hang in there!

My original number, back when the Skins were at RFK, was 40,145. I thought I'd never get tickets! (Back then, there was no serious talk about a new stadium) Good luck!

I'm in the last row too and I didn't ask for an upgrade in fear that I'd move only like 4 rows up and have way less room. Against the fence is pretty cool if you don't mind the walk up.

LOL!!! I know exactly how you fell.....that happened to me a couple of years ago, when they first offered the "obstructed seats"...I got "upgraded" to section 214 row 23 seats, seats 13 & 14,(if memory serves), directly behind a pillar.

I begged, pleaded, cajoled and finally sic'd my wife on Redskins ticket office Management to put us back in the 400's! I'm very happy with the 400's....I'd just like to get closer to the 50......

People that get offers for those sections are in the last couple rows, do you want to move back to row 29?

There's no rhyme or reason. I hate to say this but I only waited two years on the waitlist (Aug. 2003 - Aug. 2005) before I was offered season tickets.

New season ticket holders getting better seats without current holders being offered upgrades doesn't surprise me (I wasn't offered an upgrade this year). It's par for the course.

We felt that way too....we were in row 29 and it's cool to be able to stand up the whole time and bang on the sign. They "supposedly" won't upgrade you without your approval. Any upgrade from row 29 should be at least down to row 16, or lower. Believe it, or not, those 13-14 rows down make a BIG difference. You should note that the tickets are more expensive from rows 15 down though....

Don't know if this helps, but the guy I get tix from was in the 400 section 3 years ago, when obstructed came open, I urged him to get them (at least out of the snow/rain) and since the problems with the obstructed view, he upgraded this year to Section 125, Row 4.
You may have to do some time in the 200 section. He didn't plan it this way but it did work out. Our obstructed tix were not that bad, well worth 2 years to get down to where we are now.

My original number was 27,000 and change in 1987, when serious talk about a stadium started. I seem to remember soon after I signed up it quickly rose to over 40,000. I got my season tickets in 2003. When did you get yours?

I agree with the original poster... there WAS absolutely no rhyme or reason in previous years, but maybe they have finally gotten things right.

Just last off-season I heard stories about 1st year ticket holders moving from row 28 of the upper endzone to row 13 of the upper sideline (50-yard line)... I mean, I even moved over 2 sections and down about 15 rows...

but then I heard stories of people in year 3 or 4 of having tickets, and they didn't move an inch. That didn't make any sense to me... and even though I benefited, it didn't seem fair.

I mean, without this site I would have never known when to call and probably would have missed out on my big upgrade last year, as well as my parking pass.... but just because I belong to this site, got the heads up to call last year from a fellow poster, and just happened to speak to the right person at the right time.... that doesn't mean I should have been given a bigger upgrade over someone senior to me...

but I guess that's in the past now, because this year I haven't heard about anyone really moving up more than a row.... and no one moved sections.

Did you really put your name on the list in 1987 and not get tickets until 2003?
