Its very sad what is going on over there. Only 3 percent of dogs are vaccinated against rabies and more than 2,000 people die of the disease each year.

whats wrong with this? they are unable to control their strays, and rabies is spreading among the stray dogs and the dogs are killing people. Should they just let it get worse or finally do something about the problem.

sure here in the States. Your talking about China. They arent so concerned about things like that. If your a province in china, and you have a rabies outbreak you better get out on the street and club every dog you see roaming arround.

I remember reading a story about a chinese elementry school exploding, cause they were using the school to load fireworks for export. Communism and state heavy socialism can get ugly. Party bosses have heavy appetites.

Dogs being walked were seized from their owners and beaten to death on the spot, the Shanghai Daily newspaper reported.

Im a total dog lover, I just see it as it is. They gotta do what they can to protect themselves in the system they are in. As much as I love dogs, if strays endangered me in anyway I would kill them too if there wasnt a system to controll them for me. I dont for a second think these people are killing the dogs for sport or self pleasure. Just to reduce the spread of the disease and the chance of more people dying from it.

Its horrible, I saw this earlier today. but didnt bother posting it. I told my mom about it, and she had me stop, as it was just making her sick. Its just horrible. And as sopmeone said they dont worry about a humane way, well Id befoe my dog be shot in the head then beat to death, let them die quicker, then go through the pain of the beating, but these poor dogs.

I would wager that you wouldnt let your dog roam free arround a city. they arent going door to door clubbing peoples dogs. They are clubbing an out of controll stray population. atleast thats how I read it.

Yes there is a lot of ways to get rid of the disease, stray population etc with out doing this brutal inhumane act. To club anything to death is just barbaric. I could understand if you were being attacked and all you could find was a stick to defend yourself but to do this it is ridiculous.

For one thing dogs are not the main carrier of rabies. Second if they would request help there is organizations that would come to help with the issue. This is just barbaric and cruel. Third world country or not this should not be supported by their government. The government should ask for help. There is a vaccine for humans to protect against rabies and I can think of many non profit animal groups that would have come and given vaccines for free to animals.

Yet another reason to appriciate living in the US, I could have done without the pic,...ugh..

Now I do understand something had to be done, but that is quite brutal.

I could imagine the look on my knuckle head dogs face if someone started swinging a pole at her she would be like "WTF!!!! I didn't crap in the house ... AAHHRRGG!!!"

On a side not to this story........China saw a record number of new restraunts open in the last few weeks...

My 7 year old and 4 year old would have a heart attack if a group of men stopped us on the street and beat our short legged beagle to death in front of us.....

There are many ways to do this, unfortunately they waited too long as they do with every disease they decide to plague the planet with and then go overboard...

But if they were strays, they wouldn't shoot them because they wouldn't have anywhere to send the bill for the bullet.
