Collins' performance in the Bengals' game on Sunday, to put it nicely, SUCKED!!! Surely the highest paid franchise in the NFL can use there hard earned money to find a q-back who can, at least, stay vertical! Please tell me they kept the receipt!!!

Welcome to ES!
Yes Collins play was not very good. He his defense he had an inexperiences RB to pick up blitzes and a second and third string Oline for socalled protection.
Reading your first thread and your profile has me thinking possible troll. What team is your favorite? Giants perhaps?
Collins > (Hasselbeck + Johnson + Lorenzen)
By using the transitive property of equality I have deduced that YOU SUCK!!!
Who cares if our third-string QB sucks?
Clint
Collins was brought here because he knew Saunders' offensive system and could help Brunell and Campbell learn it and facilitate the transition on that side of the ball.
Many coaches carry veteran backups that are largely coaches on the field. Mike Holmgren used Doug Pederson in this role for years in Green Bay.
That doesn't mean they don't at the same time develop younger players as the Redskins are doing with Jason Campbell that are projected as future starters.
Personally, if I were a Giants fan I would be lying low until my team does something to erase the embarrassment of the 21-0 drubbing Carolina pasted on you in the playoffs AT HOME.
You don't get goose egged at home in the playoffs. Shows no heart![]()
LOL those guys make Tod Collins look awful. I would rather have Lorenzen and Hasselbeck than Tod Collins. Hell Rod Johnson is a better QB but he doesn't know how to let the ball go.Originally Posted by Sean Taylor is God

I thought most of our 2nd stringers Oline did really well against the 1st team rush from the bengals, 1 or 2 guys struggled, but the left side of the line and the center did really really well. Collins didn't have an inordinate amount of pressure for a Vet QB to deal with.

**** YEAH!
there is no excuse. Collins was awful.
again, he is here for Brunell and Campbell. the Redskins took the risk that he could help bridge the gap in knowledge so both are more effective in 2006 and Campbell in particular if called upon in an emergency.
but that still doesn't mean that Collins should not be able to line up under center and execute basic plays.
Cincinnati despite the 11-5 record and all-star offense still had a defense ranked in the bottom half of the league last year. The fact he looked that bad against their backups is not a good sign for Collins.
I think we will see against the Jets whether it was merely 'rust' or an erosion of his skills over the years.
No, Collins did not look good. But our second string OL looked HORRIBLE. It doesn't matter how well a QB knows the system he is playing in or how good of a QB is playing. When there is absolutely no protection, the QB is going to look like total crap.
Also, Collins knows this system backwards and forwards; however, the rest of the second squad doesn't know it very well, if at all. TC had no chance playing with the group he was on the field with against the FIRST stringers of the Cinci Defense, and Marvin was coaching to go all out and win the game (two flea-flicker, misdirection plays, etc).
It is funny how so many people keep saying, it is only preseason, don't worry about this or that, it will get fixed. Yet, most of these same people bash Todd. Collins did not look well at all, but people need to give him more than one preseason game before they make all these judgements against the guy.
If collins knows the offense so well dont you think he would know where a reciever should be so he doesn't have to dump the ball off to a defensive lineman...twice!
