Default I think this trade is a good one

Bringing T.J. Duckett to D.C. (in a contract year mind you, so you know he will make the most of each carry to get the free agent contract next summer) will ultimately make this team a better one.
    Here's why:
1.) You can never have too many running backs. And as a previous thread stated, Gibbs has created a combination reminiscent of those in the past.
2.) T.J. Duckett will be a grinder in the 4th quarter. Not only will the clock run, but hopefully those chains will move. Our inability to convert on short yardage last year cost us a few games (the first T.B. game comes to mind, where it was 3rd and 3, and if we got that 3, we would've run out the clock). This then keeps our unquestioned starter and explosive back in Clinton healthier, with Ladell also staying fresh.
3.) And come on . . . short yardage, imagine Mike Sellers lead blocking for Duckett.

For a mid-round pick, a proven veteran in Duckett is a steal.

Never learn what? In fact, I'd argue we ARE learning as evident in the fact that we finished with a 10-6 record a year ago, reached the playoffs for the first time since the '92 season, and went to the second round of the playoffs. Further than any other team in the NFC East I might add.

According to your premise, there is something wrong with addressing needs, taking necessary precautions, and actively looking to ensure the long-term health of the franchise into the future.

I suppose we should be modelling the Giants' blueprint for success instead.

So what! We have an owner that is the Stenbrenner of football. At least he SPENDS his money on players and the team unlike other teams in the NFC East that are anually 10-30 mil under the cap!

its great to have duckett and all, but doesnt that leave us with very few picks after using some 2007 picks to get mcintosh? i read somewhere that denver could end up getting our first round pick if the math works out well, all to have duckett for a year? we have so many good backs why waste our ability to build up for the future on another one. cp will be healthy, betts has always been solid, rock and sellers provide the depth, i'd rather have insurance we can build through the draft. our problem isnt our running backs right now, we need depth at o-line and need to get jason campbell startin soon, brunell has never been reliable. well atleast thats my humble opinion, i'm probably wrong...
