I will take one Steinbach, one Asante Samuel, one Justin Smith and draft a MLB.
Ralph Wilson, Marv Levy--No one circles the walkers like the Buffalo Bills.

And you know what? I'd agree with you. But every season it's almost an absolute necessity to sign at least some players... We are going to sign one or two players and we'll probably sign at least one big name.

The question isn't what we're going to do, because I think it's fairly obvious we're going to take the low road on free agency this season, who is the question...

And the who changes on availability. Right now I'd say realistically it's gonna be Clements.
Bingo. Great Post. Anyone who doesn't think the Skins aren't gonna sign at least one mid tier free agent is kidding themselves.

"Here we go again SSDD. Lets pay more FAs tooooooooo much, and get nothing on the field."

the problem is that without a draft the team doesn't have many other options to fix known problems: sit tight; trade future for current draft picks; sign FAs.

Optimist: I see the Redskin glass as half full.
Pessimist: I see the Redskin glass as half empty.
Rationalist: Why is the glass twice as big as it needs to be?

I don't have a problem with the FA's we signed. I think both Randle El and Lloyd we be great additions. As far as Archulatta and Carter I challenge anyone to tell name someone on our Defense that has played up to par, even Taylor and Washington are missing routine tackles. Give our FA class some time and then evaluate.

I'm not so sure about Nate Clements. So far in FA no one has been signed over the 5million/year threshold. I think that is their limit on free agents as silly as it sounds. But its funny that the rumors have already started with Clements. Remember how they avoided Jevon Kearse? I really believe that Nate will look for something in the 7-7.5 million per year range. Who knows with this organization, nothing surpises me anymore.

I don't see any Personal Punt Protectors on your list. That worries me. We need some depth behind $30M Adam Archuleta at Personal Punt Protector.

we are going to have to sign some free agents to patch our holes on defense. we do not have enough picks to do it at the draft alone.

Clements would be interesting. I hope the Colts do something to hold onto Freeney, because he's the type of player the Redskins brass loves...overrated and overpaid.

I don't mind a blue collar FA or 2, but no more big name/big contract guys. We don't need it. We've got plenty of big names already. Clements has not been playing particularly well and will get a big contract. No thanks.

There is a thought... Some teams are perpetually under the cap by a country mile but they also get caught up in this can we afford him saga .

Some of those teams... the Colts for example cannot keep paying the big money because they simply don't have it ...so they remain under the cap (Edge went last year despite them having a boat load of space)...

We tend to be able to give big bonuses then spred the cost over the years because the skins are a cash rich club . This way we have players with big flash contracts with salaries just over the vet minimum.

    From the list..
Nate Clements seems interersting or Asunte Sammuels
Other than that I will mostly pass... Allen would be great but DT and the draft is more alluring

For the record I'm not saying who I'd want... Just what/who our FO is going to do.

Give me Asante Samuel and Josh Brown. We could get both for hte price of Nate Clements or Lance Brings or Dwight Freeney.
If we do want a LB it should be Cato June. Put him and Marcus outside and then Marshall/McIntosh battle it out for the inside.
Stay away from Lance Briggs and Nate Clements. Both are overrated and will want huge money.
