It is pretty reasonable to say that we'll need to pick up at least one or two good FA signings this year, no matter how many moans and groans that brings from us.

Personally I would rather pick up a DB in FA and use the draft to pick up a stud DE; we are in dire need of a pass rush and getting a hungry talented DE in the draft will give us the ability to mold him. Of course Adams and Moses look great but I am also seriously taking a look at Woodley from Michigan. The guy is an animal and is great on pass rushing and run stuffing. Not sure why he isn't getting the same looks as the two blue chip guys. IMO if we could trade down our 1st round pick for a later 1st rounder and a 2nd and 3rd but still get Woodley we would be getting one hell of a steal. A bad*** DE plus other picks. As far as the DB situation, Clements is very good but he might want more than he is worth. Samuel could probably be just as good but we wouldn't have to pay the same money for him.

There are some very talented LBs in there. Cato June and Lance Briggs are both great. Only problem is they are OLBs and what we need is a MLB. I'm sure we could switch some stuff around but would it be worth it to sign someone who has always been an OLB for a fat contract then move him to a position he hasn't been in before?

We're going to HAVE to sign one or two of these guys, in addition to drafting at those spots. We just don't have enough draft picks to fill all our needs. If we brought in Clements OR Samuel as well as Briggs, that would be the ideal offseason. Draft D-line and you are basically set for the season (assuming we can get our O-line to stop playing like a pile of turd).

no more FA's RFA's or UFA's...for the next two years lets get some youth into the team, at least they wont cost too much and a couple may even surprise us with their talent

Will we be shoppers or savers this year? Have you been good little fans this year?
Jared Allen would be a beast. Avoid Freeney at all costs.
Lance Briggs and Nate Clements should be brought in, and I wouldn't say no to a decent kicker! (and punter)

Since we have no draft picks, we have no choice but to sign some free agents. Nothing wrong with that. Just have to pick good ones.

If we can trade down and pick up a 2nd round pick to go with our first we should be able to get at least 2 starters from the draft. If we can trade down more than once in the first round we may be able to come out of the draft with 3 starters/key contributors. I feel our offseason needs are DT, LB, DE, O Line Depth, CB, K, and P. Not in any particular order.

And you know what? I'd agree with you. But every season it's almost an absolute necessity to sign at least some players... We are going to sign one or two players and we'll probably sign at least one big name.

The question isn't what we're going to do, because I think it's fairly obvious we're going to take the low road on free agency this season, who is the question...

And the who changes on availability. Right now I'd say realistically it's gonna be Clements.
We're not signing Clements. It's Rogers second year! If we do that we are giving up on him to early and also that would be wasting money again. The redskins need a middle linebacker and a DL... We could get the boy out of Clemson or the DT from Mich.

can we even afford to sign another free agent? I mean, one of the big names we signed this year has got to get moved I would think.

lance briggs and a corner are what we should sign FA wise. we'll probalby add some linemen too as our Oline has been inconsistent.

Starks, Clements and Samuels, and maybe Allen. If we got any of those players I would be incredably happy.

We will trim the fat. Cut loose AA, Brunell, Hall, Holdman, maybe trade an Olineman (Samuels or Jansen) for a draft pick or two. D. Snyders money crunchers who work on our salary cap will not let us be in salary cap hell. they have all that figured out. Noone thought we would be able to get the FA pick ups we did last season and look what we did. I see us getting the cream of the offseason again... lets just hope it translates on the field.

i heard something to the effect that adam a.'s signing bonus is in two parts. one's been paid and the other is due in march of 07. and there's a possibility that the skins let him walk instead of paying it. i'm not clear how much they will save but it should be some.and if daniels and wynn redo their contracts. then maybe we can bring in some guys. i really wanted the skins to go after larry tripplett last off season.

I actually like our group now. I think they need time to gel. The last thing we need is ANOTHER redskin overhaul. The only guy that tickles my fancy would be Josh Brown. He has been clutch for the the seahags for years.
Dont get me wrong, I like Novak and think that with time, he will get better. I only like him for field goals and PAT's though. his kick-offs are pretty shoddy.
We need a new punter too. Frost just does not have it.
