Tough call between the elderly and the teenagers.

Teenagers just have that carefree, "it-can't-happen-to-me attitude that doesn't go along with careful driving.

The elderly, God bless 'em, just slow down so much that they make everyone else around them impatient. Impatience on the road is dangerous. I used to get p!ssed and cuss at them ... and then I saw "Saving Private Ryan." The thought that I might be ranting at a guy for driving slow who might have been through something like that ... well ... let's just say a lot of those elderly drivers have earned the right for us to have a little more patience with them.

Works for me.

Not on the list? SUV drivers, idiots who talk on the phone while driving, or both. Now I'm no ASF when it comes to anti-SUV militancy, but I think people who drive those things figure since they are driving big ol' trucks and I'm not, they don't really have to worry about hitting me. That's the way they drive em anyway.

People who talk on the phone are worse than old ladies. They drive 10 miles an hour under the speed limit and veer into other lanes all the time. And forget about them ever signalling. That would take an extra hand.

Of course I'm generalizing here. I'm sure there are some very safe teenage drivers out there.

spoken like a true "Yorker." I grew up in york, and the freakin trucks on 83 and the turnpike drive me crazy. trucks passing other trucks uphill going 40 mph is a g0ddamn joke. nothing makes me see red like that (well, at least on the road that is). and the "white platers" from maryland need to learn what "hammer lane" means.

luckily, i'm in california now. 5 lanes on each side of a highway means i don't have to deal with the trucks much, and there are plenty of options to pass morons going the speed limit in the left lanes.

I have to say bus drivers, especially Metro bus drivers. I'm not sure they realise the mirrors on the sides are there for a reason. I can't tell you the number of accidents I've seen caused by a bus merging with the "they will get out of my way" philosiphy. The irritating thig is how seldom the bus itself ends up in the accidents. It's not that I want the bus full of occupants to be hurt, it's just so irritating to watch them drive off and not even stop at teh accident they caused. Of course, the yprobably can't see the accident because the yare unaware of the mirrors

I concur with Henry. By and large, people talking on cell phones are worst drivers.

You'd think that observing the horrible driving of other cell phone users would prompt people to be aware of their own driving when talking on the phone. Not.

I guess it's a lot like walking and chewing gum at the same time. It just can't be done.

Californians are terrible in the rain, just terrible. Half of them drive at about 5 mph on the freeways out of fear, and the other half (continue to) drive like tailgating maniacs. Both cause accidents.

That fact that we only get rain every once in a while to wash the oil residue off the roads - which means that they're pretty darn slick in the rain - only adds to the problem.
