    Default Toney vs. Peter II

Anyone watching this fight Saturday night? The first fight was excellent with Toney IMO getting ripped off a little. Toney brought in Billy Blanks to train with him, he looks as good as he ever has since moving to the heavy's even though he is weighing in 1 pound heavier he looks ripped and his upper body looks more like a heavyweight. Peter has slimmed down, 8 pounds lighter for this one and also looks good. Toney IMO is one of the best technical fighters of all time, like hopkins he is a true artist of the sport. He talks a little too much for my liking but he has always been like that. Peter is an interesting young name in the game, powerful yet lacking some of the skills a seasoned fighter has. I think for the long term this is the best fight for Peter, to be able to fight Toney and learn some of his skills will be priceless down the road for him. I like both these guys but hope Toney pulls out the win. I would like to see him fight the other champs out there.

First off....I COMPLETELY agree with you that Toney got ripped off the first fight...as far as talking trash, I like it cause he backs it up. This fight I'm a little concerned though...Its great to bring in Billy Blanks (Sp?) and all but to switch up your preparation at that age? I don't know its a little risky to me....plus I read the he is skipping appointments/training sessions with Freddie Roach....not a good sign....Peter will be simply swinging for the fences so we will see what happens....I'll be watching.

either way toney will go down as an all time great. peter is just one punch power and may be good, but will never be great.

Toney was robbed in the first fight. I think Toney will be better condition, therefore he will win.

I really don't think Toney prepares for an opponent he feels the guy out for the first two rounds and adjusts as he sees fit.

You maybe be right.....Toney is a NATURAL fighter...he was born to fight...some guys are big, fast, or just great athletes (Jermaine Taylor..opps did I say that?..lol) and have to learn the game....Toney is a natural and right at home in that ring.

James "LIGHTS OUT" Toney will avoid the big punch from Sam Peter. Toney will outbox Peter AGAIN. Only this time, he'll get the WIN. Should be a good fight.

Toney was definitely robbed in the first fight.

I'm a little hesitant to watch this fight, I'm a HUGE James Toney fan and have supported him a long time now, but I'm fearful that he's going to get hurt. Sam Peter is a dirty fighter and king of the rabbit punches, and he could do some serious damage with those.

I'm sick of Peter's repeated rabbit punches. I hope they have a good ref like Jay Nady or Joe Cortes. There's no way Peter knocks out Toney, Toney has never been stopped and took Peter's hardest shots in the first fight. I truly believe, even at the ripe age of 38, that an in-shape Toney is the only heavyweight capable of rising to the top and bringing some clarity to the division.

    Good lord Toney is fat.

PETER won a decision against TONEY. Toney was outboxed and outhustled by Peter. Initially, thought the fight wouldn't last because of the 1st 2-3 round. Toney looked he should have been stopped. I give credit to Peter, he fought a good fight. Toney hit him with some very hard shots in the fight, but he doesn't have the POWER to really hurt Peter. Peter displayed some decent boxing skills in this fight. If he can continue to improve his boxing skills, he'll be a major force in the lackluster Heavyweight division. Besides, all it takes is ONE punch and Sam Peter has ONE PUNCH POWER. Decent fight overall. Klitchsko, Maskaev, Briggs all better beware.

Sadly, it's probably the best he's looked since the Holyfield fight.

UD for Peter, he looked improved.
