Default Which Athlete or Celebrity Death Impacted You Most In Your Lifetime?

I know that it's always tragic when one loses a loved one and we've seen a lot of board members struggling with family illnesses and even death and all of you remain in my prayers. I happened to lose my biological father at 54 years old and my adoptive father at age 59 so I can relate to what many of you are or have been going through......

.....but which famous person, celebrity, or athlete's death personally affected you the most in your lifetime? Whose loss stuck with you and still even resonates with you to this day?

For personal reasons I won't get into... for me it was Lenny Bias and Luther Vandross...each of whom died way before their time.

I would love to see either one of them again.

    Anyone else?

For me it was Dale Earnhardt. With a close second being Ayrton Senna.

Even though this is a semi-serious thread I can't pass up the opportunity to still tell you that NASCAR sucks

Lenny had dated my roommates girlfriends best friend...and I had partied with them at UMD. No illicit drugs though.

The Oklahoma St. baskteball team plane crash.

I use to work with Bill Teegins at the CBS affiliate in OKC. He was the Sports Director at KWTV and was play by play for OSU football and basketball radio broadcasts. I was also working that night. I am a newscast director that had to direct the wall to wall coverage. That was hard for the whole station.

My dad told me early in life "One of the most talented basketball players ever, got drafted, went to a party, tried cocaine, was allergic to it and died that night before he even had a chance to do anything with his life" How truthful that was doesn't matter, what matters is, I was scared ****less that I would be allergic to whatever illegal thing I tried, therefore I never tried any drugs...

I read that day that the JFK assassination site is the most visited in Dallas.

Chris Farley. I think that was the first celebrity that I really liked that died. I clearly remember when my older brother told me right when I got home from school. So sad. He would be a huge star today if he didn't get so caught up in drugs.

I don't think any death has had a big impact, but if I had to say one I would say
