Thread: ESPN SC: Adalius Thomas to the Patriots???

Default ESPN SC: Adalius Thomas to the Patriots???

Stink or Clayton (can't remember which) just said the Patriots are working out a contract with Thomas right now. If true, this will instantly make the Patriots a dangerous defense once again, and probably propell them to another title.

one player doesn't make a team i personally think the patriots are in the gutter this year b/c their o-line will stink it up ad TB will probably get hurt.
Big Thanks to my great friends Heine, Sam, Bud, and Mr. Miller for getting me through the troubles of High School.

Well I agree that this would be a huge signing for the Patriots, or anyone else for that matter, but no single signing has ever "propelled" a team to a title.

I think AD is the best player available in free agency in any of the last 3 years, but he's still one guy of 22. A difference maker, sure, but let's not overstate his importance.

Good for the Patriots. Seems like they know WHEN and WHICH free agents to sign.

I'm as sick of the Patriots as anybody else (and they're my 2nd favorite team)... but you have to appreciate the way they do business.

    Don't bet on that one.

Yeah, because the Ravens are comparable to the Patriots.

Its not one player. The Patriots have a strong core already, and a winning system. They need WRs, and will probably sign a Joe Horn or Donte Stallworth to address that, and maybe draft a couple. But AT is not an ordinary player...he is a beast.

He's the kind of guy that makes a good defense GREAT. He's the Willie McGinest-type player that they've been missing on that D since 2004 (2005 Willie didn't play as well as usual). And we're not talking about a shoddy defense - they were 6th overall in 2006.

Like I said, he's awesome. Your justification still doesn't warrant suggesting that he alone will propel them to another championship.

If they win another one this year, the most responsible party will be Tom Brady, still.

Well of course Tom Brady will be a huge factor. Maybe "propel" was the wrong word - maybe catalyst is more appropriate? I simply mean he is the missing piece in an already very good team. Keep in mind that on the Patriots 3 superbowl teams, the defense was top 6 in scoring (6, 1, 2 respectively) all three years, and top 10 in yards two of the three years. 2004 was the only year that they had a really dominant offense. (4th and 7th in points and yards).

I'm with you. AD is the man.
