I do things such as participating in community groups, specifically with regard to addressing environmental issues locally and contributing to various charitable organizations. I also like to think that in some way in my career I will contribute to developing a cure or treatment for disease (currently working on regenerating cartilage for the treatment of degenerative osteoarthritis). I won't go into specific details on the raising of my son other than to say I include him in some of the community and environmental activities.Originally Posted by Zguy28
Wouldn't you rather that they fought for their own ideals? I know I would rather have my son think for himself and stand up for his own ideals rather than my own. I refuse to spread the herd mentality.Originally Posted by Air Force Cane

Serve God and get a Super Bowl ring. My dreams of playing in the NFL *tore* figuratively speaking. I suppose I'll work my way up the ladder over the years and once I am 50 or 60 I'll have a job in the NFL.....then it's 1:16 odds from there...lol.....16 years I should be set eh?![]()

At your age, PP that's the way to be. You'll either find it or it will find you. Keep your eyes open though or your purpose may wind up hitting you upside the head![]()
I've actually decided to make it my career. I'm sure I could make more money doing something else but I cant think of anything else I'd rather do full time. I'm not a lavish guy so I dont need a whole lot. Just a roof over my head and a big screen to watch the skins...Originally Posted by Zguy28

for me it is quite simple, to try and make the world a better place by your own existence. It could be as little as volunteering, or as major as discovering the cure for cancer, and everything in between. The ULTIMATE goal, as Code mentioned, is to make sure our kin have it better then we did. For me, our "kin" is not necessarily my children, or my countrymen, but humans as a species.
Some of you may appreciate these as I do. The thoughts are relevant to the topic of purpose.
"The measure of a man is not determined by his show of outward strength, or the volume of his voice, or the thunder of his action.
It is to be seen, rather, in terms of the nature and depth of his commitments, the genuineness of his friendships, the sincerity of his purpose, the quiet courage of his convictions, his capacity to suffer, and his willingness to continue growing up."
----Poulard---
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal
of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a redeemed
social condition, or a job well done;
To know even one other life breathed because you lived----
This is to have succeeded.

I have absolutely no idea. I've asked that quesion many times, still searching for an answer. So, until I come up with an answer, I'll just strive to be the best person I can be,( I have plenty of work to do), and hope that is a good enough purpose for now.

That indeed is a real purpose, but I don't think its yours.Originally Posted by PleaseBlitz
