That has led to questions among scouts about Branch’s effort and a rep that he takes plays off.

This is why you take everything scouts say with a handful of salt. NFL teams that do their homework will learn that Ron English, defensive coordinator for UM, who became coordinator just last year completely changed the defense completely around, from a 3-4 to a 4-3 and asked Branch to play less of a penetrating role, a DE, than he did 2005 (hence the higher amount of TFL and sacks in 2005) and stuff the middle to help with the total team defense. It's what made David Harris into a top MLB prospect this year and the Michgan the top rated run defense in the country.

This would be just about perfect. Trade down 2 spots, take Okoye, and pick up a 3rd or at the worst a 4th round pick. Just about perfect.

But I'd be all for it. Good news.
This is a draft day trade possibility I have been pimping for a few weeks. The rumor of NE being interested in LL would also help this. I am hoping for a 2nd from atl as they have two (#8 and #10) in the 2nd round.

If NE is interested and ATl is interested it could get very interesting. ATL's number 8 plus a 2nd or NE's two first. Draft value makes ATL's trade much more valuable, but if NE is loving LL we could possibly get a third as well.

I would take the ATL deal and trade down again if possible.

    Loved that film.

As for the above, well we could still get Branch/Okoye/whoever at 8 i guess. Heres to hoping its true.
My views on Okoye aside, there is no way he won't be there at 8 if we trade down with the Falcons. The Vikings have Pat and Kevin Williams, so they don't take him at 6, where as the Falcons would want Landry.

    Goodbye, Bubba. RIP.

Not unreasonable to demand a second as well for the consensus best defensive player in the draft. Especially as Atl must know we are as likely to sign him ourselves. We haven't done anything stupid yet this off-season and opportunities are running out....

There will be people who want Landry and Adrian Petersen. I see a bidding war where we get a 2nd pretty easily (even if we have to throw in a 5th or 6th).

Given the timing of rumors, should anything within two weeks of the draft be taken seriously. If this is for real, then I say make the trade and get a DE in the First and a DT in the second or vice-versa.

Make this trade and get the 3rd, then make another trade down a few spots and get another 3rd. If we can turn our one pick into 3 picks and use two of them on DL and the third on a G we will be clicking big time
