Hickman had 12.5 sacks last year.

His signing is not a surprise because he played for Dewayne Walker at UCLA, so he already knows the defense.

More than likely he will be a 3rd down rush end, much like they used Chris Clemons.

If he makes the team of course...

I don't have a link, but heard on Sirius when they were reading off some UDFA signings.
    Skins signed:

Zach Latimer 6-1, 238 MLB Oklahoma

    Pos:

Dependable run-defending linebacker who is quick to recognize the action. Disciplined, plays heads-up football and explodes up the field. Takes good angles to the action and is relatively efficient.

    Neg:

Not stout at the point, gathers into blocks and is slow to shed. Marginal playing speed. Average skills in coverage.

Keenan Carter looks interesting. Reading a page or so back he played NT in college. Not too tall at 6'1" or so but still a few pounds over 330.

Rates himself as a run stuffer and needs to work on pass rush, sounds like my kind of guy. We'll see if he has what it takes.

Keenan is a good friend of mine, he is super smart and a core redskins kind of guy.

Very raw. but some potential. Motivation and willingness to workout also may be an issue from what I read on NFL draft countdown.
Who played in a Community College and Oklahoma State.

And at 375 lbs, nfl.com still describes him as "light on his feet". (And he can do a front flip.)

Is there some kind of (hopefully sticky) thread that lists our UDFA signings?

    This picture looks better:

    (From the NYT article.)

(caption: Walter Thomas, 21, can bench-press 475 pounds and squat 800.)

(BTW, that above-linked NYT article has a lot more information about the kid. Including a lot more off-the-field information.)

Another good picture, same article, page 2:

“You absolutely cannot run at him,” said Les Miles, the Louisiana State University coach, who recruited Thomas to Oklahoma State. “You have to go in another direction.”

The 6-foot-1, 340-pound Carter played nose guard at Virginia, a position that increased his stock. NFL teams typically play a 4-3 defensive scheme, but recently have been using the 3-4 scheme.

Interesting here are Keenan Carter's Stats It seems he only played one season. Could be a gem there.

Wendt is a beast physically. Maybe this years Lumsden. Here's some stuff I found on him.

Jesse Wendt of UW Stout worked out for a couple pro teams today and apparently he ran a 4.28 forty... Just seein if you guys think it is possible. I mean I know he is fast, but 4.28?!? It was handtimed by the pro scouts, so that will make a small distance, but they work with stopwatches so much they're real good with them, so it won't be all that big. So even assuminig he ran a 4.32, that is insanely fast. I don't think there are any D1 players that ran that. So do you think it was that far off, or was it legit?

I have also been using a split similar to the one in your speed article with my athletes for the past 4 weeks. I made a couple of small changes adding in some tempo work and sub-maximal sprint work on the two upper body days (attached is a sample week of the program my brother was performing before the de-load week. I have been de-loading every 4th week). My athletes have seen tremendous gains from novice to advanced. Yesterday 2 of my college football juniors at the University of Wisconsin Stout (Div 3) had a pro-day with the New York Jets and ran amazing times. My brother Ryan Englebert who is a junior tailback measured in at 5'11 / 225 and ran a 4.30 handheld 40 yard dash. His bench press was 225 for 38 reps. The other athlete is a wide receiver named Jesse Wendt who measured in at 6'3 / 229 and ran a 4.28 handheld 40 yard dash. Jesse's bench press was 225 for 33 reps. They felt so fresh and relaxed when running. Thanks, Cory
