Original post:
This might be a tough one. . .
Let's pull together an All-Time NFL Undrafted Team .
I'll start with the two I can think of off-hand:
At OT, Joe Jacoby, Washington Redskins.
Undrafted out of Louisville, he signed a rookie contract with the Redskins in 1981. In training camp that year, Coach Joe Gibbs once mistook him for a defensive lineman, and Jacoby was too scared to correct the coach. Soon, though, Coach Gibbs and the rest of the football world got to know Jake very well as a cornerstone of the Hogs and one of the best lineman of his era.
At TE, Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers.
Gates was a high school basketball and football star, but ended up only playing basketball in college. He transferred from MSU to Eastern Michigan, played some JUCO B-ball then starred for two years at Kent State as a power forward. Undrafted by the NFL, he tried out for the Chargers, who signed him, and he has quickly become arguably the top receiving tight end in the NFL.
