Judging by the early comments, I think this is going to be another bill that dies.On the Democratic side of the aisle, Barack Obama offered a reminder that the immigration issue divides both parties. "Without modifications," said Obama in a statement released by his Senate office, "the proposed bill could devalue the importance of family reunification, replace the current group of undocumented immigrants with a new undocumented population consisting of guestworkers who will overstay their visas, and potentially drive down wages of American workers."
I've said it before and I'll say it again... enforce first, and then guest worker plan later. Those illegals kicked out due to enforcement should be given a better position than those who go into a guest worker plan, and companies should not be given huge fines.
But I really want to see a committment to the wall, border patrol, and infrastructure on the border.
