uncalled for buddy. Would you say Was OJ simpson around at the time when your wife got murdered? A dog is a Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister, and when they pass its a sad thing, and people grieve and cry over it. To make a joke like that is just stupid and idiotic.Originally Posted by USS Redskins

So sorry bro, beautiful website tribute.
Sorry to hear man i cant even imagine. My thoughts go out to you
I didn't mention it earlier but he had cancer. We're not sure exactly what type because he had a fibrosarcoma removed last fall but we found large tumors in both lungs on follow-up. It could have been that the original tumor spread before it was removed or the lung tumors could have grown independently. There really wasn't any reason to do any biopsies or other diagnostic tests at that point because there just wasn't anything they could do.
At the time the diagnosis was made I was thinking we'd have a couple or three months to say goodbye but unfortunately, he only lasted about two weeks due to the pain from one of the tumors that spread to his oral cavity. Other than just the loss of a loved one, the thing that really sucks about it is that Basenjis regularly live to be 15 or 16 years old (or more) so I feel like he really got cheated out of a lot of years.
In any event, thanks to everyone for your thoughtful and kind condolances both in this thread and guest book at his memorial site. Knowing others have endured similar losses or just that they care is really helpful.
Finally, to echo what Blade (or DH maybe???) said in the goodbye thread for $1, get off this site now and go hug/kiss your pet(s) and other loved ones and spend some time with them.

I read your memorial page about your dog. I'm sorry for your loss. I don't know what I'd do if I lost my 6 year old "child" dog. But I know what it is like to put a dog to sleep for whatever reason. Ten years ago, my family put our dog to sleep because of old age and health problems. I made a photo album with pictures of her shortly thereafter. I still look at it once in a while and think of the memories I had of my first dog.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! I've noticed your signature so many times and just love Sinbad's "smile" - he looks like he is having happy doggie dreams in that picture. He must have been very loved.
The memorial you set up for him is a real tribute.
I feel your pain man. My dog died recently too. Cancer took him. He was only three years old. It's a pretty crappy feeling.![]()
Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Dogs become a part of the family and it's very tough losing one. I lost my Golden Retriever of 13 years about 2 years ago so I can relate. Very nice tribute for Sinbad.
Dnag, he was a beautiful pooch! My condolences, amigo.![]()

A little later on the reply, however you have my sympathy. Sept 2006 my dog Sinbad had to be put down. It does get easier, but after about a year it is still not totally gone.
anytime someone loses a pet i feel horrible for that person/family........Pets really do bring sooooo much joy to our lives.......I love my dog and tonight I will go home and give him some extra love...
