Default Why did we draft Palmer?

Is anyone else pissed that we drafted Palmer? I might be jumping the gun a little here, but was he worth it? We got Golston in the 6th last year and there have been a lot of good players drafted that late. We should've taken a project DE or DT, not a project QB who will more than likely never see the field.

I know the majority of 6th round picks don't make it, but why not just have Bramlet as the 3rd qb. We probably could've signed a rookie free agent QB or maybe even Palmer since he may not have been drafted.

It just reminds me of the Manuel White/Nemo combo where it appeared to the average fan that we had plenty of depth there and fullbacks are hardly ever drafted anyways and we ended up being right.

we obviously thought he was good enough to make it as a 3rd string, we thought he was better than Bramlet, and maybe that he could be a reliable backup down the road. No one here works for our scouting department and this is a question they would be better off answering.

could have signed a fat DT on Goal line situations but I guess the staff has crushes on NFL siblings

Don't know much about Palmer other than his big bro, but it seems Joe Gibbs is bringing in alot of guys based on personality, attitude, etc. rather than athleticism, talent, and needs, especially in the draft.

Oh darn. I was hoping the scouts were reading extremeskins right now and might be able to answer.

We got him so people could freak and start threads asking why we got him.

Or he could be on the PS for a year. One of those two.

i think (and this thought has no facts to back it up except for the fantasy world that is my mind) that gibbs did not want to keep brunell and collins. and his thought was that he would let collins go after training camp. if that happened, i think he also recognized that brunell would either retire next year or be a cap casuality. so what you have then two years down the road is JC at starter and nobody else around who has been in the system. lookign at that gibbs probably said, well it takes a few years to get this system down and this palmer kid looks like good talent in need of coaching who will be fine to sit on the bench for a few years, learning the system and then step into a back up qb role.
casey bramlet turned out to be a monkey wrench in that by going off to europe and becoming the mayor of weinerschnitzel. but when you think about it, how bad of a monkey wrench is it that instead of 4 possible qb's on our roster we have 5 (or 6 with el)?

I really never liked this pick, but it looks even worse now, I doubt Palmer will even make the practice squad, would have much rather seen a Lineman, Offensive or Defensive, to try and groom and add depth.

You know what I mean though?

Example - Overpaying ARE, because Gibbs loved his personality. Or, signing Mark Brunell so they could go to bible class together.

Brunell and Collins will not be here next year. I guess we didn't know about Bramlet at the time, but that would have left us with Campbell and no one else on the roster at QB for next year.

I wish the Gibbs bashers here would just go cheer for the cowgirls, gnats, or feagles, and live on their boards...
