Wow and abundance of help far beyond and above what I was expecting. Thank you everybody.
And we got both types of victories, the heartbreaker and the beatdown.Originally Posted by ChampSkinsFanatic

Another great idea, I saw the Maryland paper and thanks for the link. I'll take a look. When the Redskins win again I might just have to buy a whole bunch of different newspapersOriginally Posted by dinkymark67

Yeah its crazy the way the vaule of things increases with time. Back in the day you could probably find several Washington newspapers on the ground and getting blown around by the wind. Back then to many they weren't worth much to many people but can you imagine if you went outside and you saw $45 on the ground and flying around?Originally Posted by voicekiller
Thanks again everybody.

one more thing...i checked www.bn.com and both the Season of Respect [which accumulated articles from the 1982 Super Bowl season and Team of the Eighties [the 1987 season] are both available for about $12.00 each. Both are really great and worth it in my opinion. They just reprint articles [and pictures]...so you follow the season as it was written about as it happened, not what someone wrote about in retrospect...so you see how little respect the Redskins got in the 1982 preseason.

Sorry for the bump but does anybody remember the page on Darrell Green when he retired? It was a full newspaper page and I believe it was in the Washington Post but I can't remember if it was Darrell Green who set up the page to thank the fans or if it was Dan Snyder thanking Darrell Green for his years as a Redskin.
Reason I'm asking is because my wife recently ran into Darrell Green at her work and she had no idea who he was and ended up texting me if I knew a Redskins HOF named "Daryl." She grew up in Brazil so she has no interest in football but over the past three years, I've been slowly converting her into a skins fan. I've been showing her highlights of Darrell Green and how he was a role model on and off the field and she said she could tell by the way he handled himself when she met him. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
My Grandmother saved me a copy of the Washington Post prior to the 87 Broncos Super Bowl. Still pretty cool to look at.
I have the post after the '82 victory and the sporting news from the '87 victory
I had the front pages of the Washington Post framed, for the editions of the day after our Super Bowl 22 and 26 wins. Had them on my bedroom wall as a teenager, and still remember them:
"Williams Delivers a Super Bowl Triumph" (black and white pic of Williams leaving the field, head bowed, with Redskins helmet held aloft)
"Redskins Win Super Bowl, 37-24" (color pic of one of our RBs (Riggs?) diving into the end zone)
...always kinda thought the SB 26 headline was a little boring, but hey, I'll take it![]()

The coolest thing I've got is some WP sports articles from before the first Eagles game in 1982. "too many question marks"
A bad plan well executed may work. A good plan badly executed will always fail.
I am not sure what you all will think, but I think I have you all beat. After the '91 Super Bowl, the Washington Post did a reprint off all of the Bandwagon articles, put them into a little magazine type format and sold if for a few bucks. You had to order it by mail from WashPost. I have it stored away, and haven't looked at it in awhile.
The reason it is so cool is that the Bandwagon articles started week 1 that year when we beat the lions 45-0. After that there was a new Bandwagon article once a week thru the entire season and playoffs. Each article included a little black and white sketch. The writer was (I think) Tony Kornheiser from Pardon the Interruption. He called it so early that season. I have always liked him since then. That was when he was a real fan of the 'Skins.
If I can find it, I will try to scan the cover and place it in here. I am sure there are copy right laws keeping me from posting the entire thing.
I got 'em all. I used to work for WP. I have the Times papers too. I won't sell them, to me they are priceless. When I die my wife can sell them but I doubt it would ever happen.

Thanks for the sig LCSF
>> I have that collection too (it is somewhere, I have moved 3x since 1992). Those articles are available here, but they lack the drawings of the Bandwagon that appeared each week alongside the column.
