Thread: All Things Boxing

Cotto will probably fight Canelo because, like you said, thats how boxing works. Cotto is still a name, and its another one of those on Alvarez's notch.

Trout was VERY impressive tonight. I dont think Cotto is that old, and even if I disagree with the final card (the margin, not hte victor), Trout showed me a lot of tactical acumen in this fight. In fact, this fight was very enjoyable because of how tactical the fight was.

I would love to see Trout v. Canelo, but that wont happen.

Cotto is a great fighter but he needs too chill it's okay too fight a few fights where he is the heavy favorite. He's fought top notch competition fight after fight after suffering brutal loses. Mosley, Margo, PAC, Margo, Mayweather and now the champ at 154 Trout it seems too me that people is just cashing out on him. You cant keep talking loses then turn around and fight another monster nobody is looking out for the health of Cotto. Mosley was a brawl, Margo
Cheated and destroyed Cotto and almost ended his career, Pacquaio pretty much was finishing what Margo started beat down, You fight Margo again got a little confidence back then turn around and fight Mayweather which was a Brawl then you turn around and face a young champion which didn't end well.

My advice too Cotto, Don't let boxing destroy you, you have a wonderful family and still young your health is more important than anything.

I see this is a pity party for Cotto. IMO, Cotto was never a great fighter. He was good, but he is a nothch below Pac, May, Trinidad, Oscar and a young Mosley. And let's tell it like it is, it's was HIS decision to fight the best fighters and I applaud him for that. He's on record in saying he will follow the $. No one can never say that he isn't a fighting champion though. Now that I think of it, most Puerto Rican fighters are fighting champions.

With that being said, Cotto doesn't deserve to headline another PPV card. Canelo should call out Floyd or just fight Trout. We know he'll beat Cotto. Do we need to see that beatdown to prove it?

Agree 100%. Cinnamon V Cotto would be non-competitive.

Boxing promoters will not let a little thing like a decisive defeat stand in the way of a money fight.

Hatton just got knocked out in his comeback fight, Golden Boy still trying to match him against Malignaggi.

If Cotto wants the Canelo fight, he'll get it.

I know awhile back I said that I'd no longer be ordering anymore Pac/Floyd fights until they fought each other... but for some reason I just have to see the Pac/ Marquez fight now. I have been reeled in.

    I'm ashamed...

I'll watch because I watch all fights, but I don't really have much interest in it to be honest.

And in other boxing news, Floyd Mayweather (once again) announces the date of his next fight on the same week Pacquiao is fighting.

The problem I have with Pac/Marquez IV is that it seems clear now that Marquez will never win a decision over Pac, but doesn't seem to quite have what it takes anymore to KO/TKO him, be it his age, wear & tear, and fighting at a weight that does not do him justice, so he is at a real disadvantage as far as trying to finish his opponent. I felt he won the 3rd fight, convincingly. I wouldn't go as far as saying "domination" but he did show as he did in his other fights with Pac, that Pac has a weakness against boxers who have power. Guys who can actually counter-punch as opposed to just walking into Pac's punches, thinking they will overpower him,

I am sure I will give in and find a stream to watch the fight but this 4th fight does not have the luster it could/should have., had Marquez been given the decision over Pac last year.

The last time Pac was fighting Marquez. He makes a "challenge" to Pacquiao to fight on May 5 at the MGM Grand days before the Pac/Marquez fight. As for Pacquiao promoting a fight on the same week as Mayweather was fighting, he has every right to promote an upcoming fight. What Mayweather is doing is trying to steal Pacquiao's thunder.

I have yet to see Pac or Roach correct this mistake. Once Pac comes in, he's already committed. He needs to learn how to counter on top of his opponents counter. Set them up with a jab, maybe double on it, wait for their 1-2 counter then unload....rather than just charge in, throw his combo and then get clocked.

That's all Marquez was doing. Let Pac throw his combos, once that left hand is launched Pac doesn't do a good job covering up for the counter, if anything there have been plenty of times that Pac will follow with that left and just stand there.

LOL you guys love you some Pacquaio!! I don't see the problem at all, how are you stealing thunder from Pac? Is someone going too not buy the Pac Marquez fight because Floyd says hes going too fight in May? If anything I think its a perfect situation he has a date in May and guess what if Pac beats Marquez then it gives us a little hope that the fight can be made.

Right now the two leading opponets for the fight is The Ghost and Canelo. Pac said he is fighting two times next year and the two most likely too fight is Rios and Bradley. This puts pressure on both of them get it done or continue too drag boxing down.

Pacquaio and Roach cant overcome that because they dont know how. Roach doesnt teach fighting any other way and Pacquiao cant fight any other way.

I expect the same thing to happen on Saturday, but I also expect Pacquaio to win a decision because Marquez cannot KO him.

I really dont know the point of this fight.
