I'm pretty flexible when it comes to scoring. The more opportunities to score the better in my opinion...so I'd be in favor of PPR and deducting points for chip shot FG's.

Kinda odd...I started playing 15 years ago when our league commish would manually tally the scores and then deliver the league newsletter by hand. So to now be able to score in fractions and get your updates instantly blows my mind. So whatever you guys decide for scoring will be fine with me...I'm not too picky.

Ok I am using copy and paste for some of my answers.... sorry if I stole your wording... here are my thoughts and votes...

    Quarterbacks:

1 Point per 25 yards passing
    6 points for passing Touchdowns
-2 points for fumbles (lost only), interceptions
    2 points for 2pt conversions
I dont think you should have negative for sacks or fumbles that arent lost....

    Running Back/Wide Receiver/Tight End

    1 point per 10 yards rushing/receiving
    6 points for rushing/receiving touchdowns
-2 points for fumbles (lost only)
    2 points for 2pt conversion

I also vote for the PPR but vote against the PPC... PPR 0.5 points/reception (this should also apply to running backs receptions)

    Special Teams

1 point per 30 return yards, sounds about right to me.
6 points for return touchdowns, for sure.

    Kickers

    1 pt for XP
3 pts for Field Goals 0-39
4 pts for Field Goals 40-49
5 points for Field Goals 50+

These are fine with me, I vote for only taking points away for missed chip shots 25-30 yards and under, maybe -3 points

    Defense/IDP...

I am on the fence for either D/ST and IDPs or just 3 IDPs with ST points for return yards etc... I am fine either way as long as the IDPs are included somehow....

    For IDP's

.5 point for tackles for IDPs, assisted and all that gets to complicated IMO... just keep it at that...

looks like we pretty much have a consensus for PPR and against PPC. I'll amend the pinned thread to reflect.

I'm still showing the following items as still in flux:

    lineup positions
    playoff alignment
    random scoring items

if you know your team name, PM me. Feel free to add your bios/introductions to the pinned thread.

I still say that the playoffs should be set up like this: 6 teams, first 2 teams get a bye, and we use weeks 14-16. If we were to use 17 as the championship, we will have to deal with star players not playing. Peyton Manning played the first half in week 17 this year, i don't think it's a good idea to have a huge FF game going on in week 17.

Also what do you guys think about this? I noticed in the other thread that the other years draft orders will be determined by peoples records from the past year. For example if you're in last place, you get the first pick. I think thats dumb, because there is no definite "best pick" in the draft. I personally would rather have pick #12 over pick #1, which gives the first place team an advantage imo. In my league i ran this year, we got to pick what draft pick we wanted. The last place team got the first pick on draft pick #. Basically having a "draft pick draft". It also makes the manager, manage more and use a strategy...

not a bad idea but we will be able to trade draft picks. Perceived value may/will vary by owner. This will allow for it's own strategies and tactics by the different managers.

not that I'm against discussing or voting on either way.

yeah, I was just trying to make sure that we didn't leave any topic behind. Phoward will come up with a couple of options, each owner can lobby to their hearts content, and then we can throw it up to a vote.

Interesting...never heard of a league where you get to choose where you draft based upon last year's finish. At first thought...I kinda like it. Have to give that one some more thought...

...of course if things did not work out that way and you actually had to draft based upon last year's finish, then maybe we would be able to trade out of the #1 slot...I give you the #12 pick and TJ Houshmenzadeh for the #1 pick...or something like that...

agree on stopping at week 16. but i think it should be a 4 team playoff. then the winners play for the championship, which is two weeks. and the same would go with a consolation bracket for teams 5-8 and another for 9-12.

i put out for a suggestion that we have a divisional setup. 4 divisions of 3 teams. a north, south, east, west, if you will. each team plays everyone in their division twice, making for four games. then they also play every other team once. so its 4 division games and 9 non-division games. a total of 13 games. which covers weeks 1-13. then make the playoffs 3 weeks. first round of the playoffs is one week. second round is 2 weeks.

so it would be something like this:

    North
    T1
    T2
    T3

    South
    T4
    T5
    T6

    East
    T7
    T8
    T9

    West
    T10
    T11
    T12

    Playoffs First Round (Week 1)

Championship Bracket (Winners of North, South, East, West)
    G1: 1 and 4
    G2: 2 and 3

Consolation Bracket (Second Place of North, South, East, West)
    G3: 5 and 8
    G4: 6 and 7

Pity Bracket (Third Place of North, South, East, West)
    G5: 9 and 12
    G6: 10 and 11

Second Round Playoffs (Weeks 2 and 3)

    Championship Bracket
    G7: Winner G1 v Winner G2
    G8: Loser G1 v Loser G2

    Consolation Bracket
    G9: Winner G3 v Winner G4
    G10: Loser G3 v Loser G4

    Pity Bracket
    G11: Winner G5 v Winner G6
    G12: Loser G5 v Loser G6

everyone gets to play every week of the season. no one gets left out. playing is the point of fantasy. figuring out who is what seed can be left to records. so out of the division winners, seeds 1-4 based on best records, and so on for the other brackets.

info: came up with this by putting together different pieces of different leagues id played in this year. so all of the individual pieces of this already do exist in fantasy football, they just might not be all in the same league, or maybe it is, and i just havent played that league yet.

Hmmm okay, some stuff to digest here.

I love the divisional format that Phoward put together. I think it makes it feel like more of an actual league. I also like the consolation and scrubs brackets (with four teams in each of three brackets). That way, you all won't cry and pout when I win the championship every year. And obviously, do not include week 17, otherwise that'll just give you guys more reason to complain when I win.

And Stosh, haven't we already voted for scoring/lineup?

As for draft order, I say we assign draft picks based on how well you did in your respective bracket. So if team #1 wins the championship bracket, he gets the 12th pick. If team #2 gets second place in the scrubs bracket (the second consolation bracket), then he gets the 3rd pick. Make sense? Since we're trading draft picks, I think that a "draft pick draft" wouldn't make much sense (although I think it's an awesome idea for leagues not allowing trading draft picks).

Press Release: Mathletes Hire Touchdown Redskins For Vacant GM Position
    January 29, 2008

Oakton, VA - The Mathletes have named Touchdown Redskins (whose real name is Padam Bhatia) as their new general manager, a team spokesperson said today. The news comes as no shock to the fantasy football world, as the Mathletes had been courting TDR's services for the past two months. TDR, a 23-year old prodigy, is confident that his team will succeed.

At the press conference announcing his hiring, TDR was quoted as saying, "Yeah, this is going to be a cakewalk. I mean, have you looked at the other GMs' names? Stoshuaj? Phoward12? What does that even mean? It's not English. My literacy is definitely going to give me a leg up in this competition."

Despite being in Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia and being an avid video gamer, TDR feels that he will have enough time on his hands to win the championship every year: "Oh yeah, that's no problem. I'm basically a genius at this thing. It goes way back to when I won the first fantasy football league I played in. I was so good I picked up Clinton Portis off of waivers in his rookie year. You don't get steals like that unless you know players inside out. And I mean, does it really matter how poorly I do? Like I said, look at my 'competition.' Let's just say I'm not scared."

This brash attitude is a breath of fresh air to the Mathletes, who for so long have been known as the pimple-faced nerds of the fantasy football world. One player, who chose to remain anonymous, cheerfully exclaimed, "I'm so excited to play for TDR. I mean, just last week I got laughed at when I asked a girl out. Now I'm swimming in poon!"

TDR also brings a time-tested method for winning: drafting well. "We're not going after any big-time free agents," said TDR. The Mathletes next draft is scheduled for shortly after the NFL Draft, so he has plenty of work to do to get ready.

"I'd just like to say something to the fans out there," said TDR. "The Mathletes are on the rise. We just watched 'Revenge of the Nerds' yesterday, and the whole team is riled up and ready to go. Nothing less than the championship trophy will be acceptable. Oh, and one more thing: WE ARE...PENN STATE!"

Edit: To SkinsNut73, from everyone here, thanks for injuring McNabb

    Nice job TDR

Allow me to introduce myself...admittedly lacking the creativity of TDR's intro...

    SkinsNut73 Team Name: Cereal Killers

Profession: Inventory Control Manager by day, but my real passion is being a volunteer firefighter

    Age: 41

    Other: Father of 3 kids....

    Fantasy Football Experience: 15 years

Started way back in the day when there were no internet leagues...hell, I didn't even have the internet 15 years ago. Bonus points for yardage? PPR? Never even heard of such things back then. Now we score in fractions of points and draft defensive players. This old man has seen a lot of changes.

Yet, with 15 years of experience, I have only ONE Championship Trophy to show for it. I have made it to the title game on two other occassions and lost. Now some of you are probably thinking, 'Oh, great..we have some schmuck who is going to draft Antonio Gates with the 1st pick and Adam Vinateri at #2 and **** up our whole draft".

Rest assured...that is not the case. My addicition to fantasy football is so great that I once struck a trade with my brother at a funeral...while we were carrying my uncle's casket to its final resting place. Shane Matthews was traded away while in the delivery room after my first child was born (and he later won the title for the guy who I dealt him to). SkinsNut73 will show up at the draft well prepared. I will have spreadsheets filled with stats (sometimes useless) that will help me draft a competitive team. Hours of preparation will go into my draft. Some may even see my team and tremble in fear...but I tell you to have no fear for the Cereal Killers are jinxed...perpetually. I'm talking on the level of the Red Sox and the curse of The Babe.

The reason I have only one championship in 15 years...injuries. It's just about a guarantee that my top pick(s) will go down at some point during the season. You guys ever watch NFL Network? Half those guys have me to thank for their broadcasting career...Terrell Davis...yea, I owned him the year he went down in preseason and, for all intent and purposes his career was done at that point. The Greatest Show on Turf featuring Marshall Faulk...yea, right...not when I drafted him. His career ended thanks to me.

Fragile Freddie Taylor...how do you think he got that name? He got that name after I drafted him for 2 consecutive years. This jinx is so bad that I even tried utilizing it to my advantage (being a Skins fan that is). Remember a couple of years ago when McNabb was throwing the ball 45 times a game and scoring like crazy...then went down for the season in like week 9? Yep...he was my QB. That year I figured if my guy went down, at least the Skins would have some advantage.

Steve Young, Curtis Martin and Ahman Green are a few more names that come to mind. There are many others who have been left in this wake of destruction.

It's a heavy burden I bear knowing I single-handedly destroy football careers, but such is my luck....

    Good luck to you all.

"And Stosh, haven't we already voted for scoring/lineup?"

lineup = have we decided between IDP only and IDP w/D/ST? (I think the original ?? was to any IDPs at all, now it's morphed into how to apply IDPs and whether to include D/STs)

scoring = I think we have the foundation but stuff such as K scoring, IDP scoring, etc. hasn't been nailed down.

thinking about the "draft pick draft" thing, I know we're not voting yet but I'm thinking I'd prefer to keep the draft pick based on final standings. I'm not sure how you would be able to trade WR - X and the 3rd pick in next yr's draft if you don't know your pick. Again, however, if there's enough interest, by all means put it to a vote.

I wonder if we could have a chat room linked to this thread to use for discussion? That way we could schedule a time for final voting on certain items. Anybody tight with a mod?

why would we have to be tight we a mod for the chat room? there already is one linked to every thread. you just have to click at the top where is says "launch chat room for:"

right above where it says "EXTREMESKINS.com > THE CLUB LEVEL Forums > Fantasy Football & Madden Forum"

but that doesnt mean anyone is going to be in there at the moment.
