PLEASE VOTE ON THE FOLLOWING
PROPOSAL (FINAL DRAFT OF PRACTICE
SQUAD):
Roster Thread
The roster thread will act as a resource for free agency, trades, and practice squad signings. The roster thread will consist of only twelve (12) posts, one per owner. Each post will list the team’s regular roster, injured reserve, and practice squad. No other posts will be allowed in this thread, and the only changes that will be made are edits by the owner on his original post to update the roster.
Yahoo Rosters
Using the Yahoo software for this fantasy football league, the rosters will be expanded to thirty-two (32) slots: twenty-four (24) slots for the regular roster of active players, five (5) slots for the practice squad, and three (3) slots for the injured reserve. The IR and PS will each be a separate IRs as set up by Yahoo (see below for the details of each). Each owner is on the honor system for injured reserve. If an owner is caught playing a player during a game who originally was on injured reserve during that season, the owner will forfeit said game.
Injured Reserve (IR)
IR will be allotted a maximum of three (3) slots. These will be distinct from both the practice squad (PS) and the regular roster of twenty-four (24) active players. Players eligible for the IR include every player on the team’s practice squad as well as the team’s regular roster of active players. A player may be put on IR even if that player is not injured in the real NFL. However, all players put on IR during a particular season will not be able to be activated to the regular roster of active players for said season. Players on IR will not be able to be signed by other teams.
Practice Squad (PS)
The PS is allotted a maximum of five (5) slots. The PS slots are allocated for only first- and second-year players (players are on the honor system for this as well), while all other players must be kept on IR or the regular roster of active players. One stipulation for this is that if a rookie has been placed on the regular roster of active players the entire year, then that player is ineligible for the PS the following year, even though that player is only a second-year player. Players may be activated from the PS to the regular roster of active players at any point during the season; however, the owner must maintain a maximum of twenty-four (24) players on his regular roster of active players. Thus, activation of a player from the PS may result in cuts of players originally on the regular roster of active players. Additionally, first- and second-year players originally on the regular roster of active players may be placed on the PS at any time during the season. Thus, a player on PS may be activated to the regular roster of active players and be replaced on the PS by a first- or second-year player from the regular roster of active players.
PS Signings
Players on the PS are eligible to be signed by other teams, however, only one PS signing may take place per team per year. Once signed, the player must remain on the regular roster of active players of the signing team for the remainder of the season. If the signed player is a first-year player and has not served the entire season on the regular roster of active players, then he is eligible for PS the following season, otherwise, he is ineligible. Signed PS players may be deactivated to the IR, at which point they will follow the rules outlined in the IR section above.
The signing team must compensate the team from which the player was signed during the following draft. The compensation for a signed player will follow the following scale (note that fractional points will NOT be rounded):
0 – 7 points per game (non-inclusive): 3rd round pick compensation
7 – 13 points per game (inclusive): 2nd round pick compensation
>13 points per game: 1st round pick compensation
All PS signings will be done on the Yahoo League Homepage Message Board. PS Signings will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis as determined by the date and time of the post.

good job summing it up and making the edits we talked about.
i vote yes as well.
something i thought about....from what i understand, anyone on your active roster, you can put on IR even if they arent hurt, but you lose them for the year. if you sign someone from another teams PS, then you can ONLY put them on PS if they really are injured. that way you cant just take someones PS player to stash them away.
and on the point system. i dont think fractional points should be rounded.
if your PS guy scores 7 points, its a 3rd round pick. if his average is 7.01, its a 2nd round pick. 13 points is a 2nd rounder. 13.01 is a 1st rounder.
those are the only things id say about it.
I vote yes on all points
Well, I think we said that once you sign a PS player, he has to be on your active roster of 24, so that you wouldn't be able to "stash" him away on your PS. You can put him on IR, but then he's gone for the season, and you have to give up a pick anyway 'cause you signed him via PS, so you have to gauge if it's worth it. Also, I'll fix the rounding, good point.Originally Posted by kuraitengai
BTW guys, mucho props to Kur for coming up with the idea and whatnot. He definitely knows his ****, as I saw with his knowledge of practice squads and IRs in real life.

i'm a yes on all of them.
good point. sign a PS guy and he must go to active. after that if you want to put him on IR. so be it. youve already got him. you had to cut a player to do so. and you give up a future pick. so if you want to put him on IR, thats fine.Originally Posted by Touchdown Redskins

and yesterday i believe king and stosh said yes before we posted the user friendly summary. so its almost a majority.
AND other than me and TDR there has been no suggestions to change or points to argue about. so maybe we did a good job setting up the idea.
I'm okay with all that was outlined.
*FF Dynasty League rumor: Cereal Killers trying to sign Brett Favre to practice squad as we speak.
If only Brett Favre was a first- or second-year player.Originally Posted by SkinsNut73

What do you guys think of trying to find a time where we can all get online for an hour or so...and just knock out a big chunk of this draft....
The Cereal Killers plan on exploiting that whole "honor system" loophole thing...Originally Posted by Touchdown Redskins

This thing is moving at a pretty decent speed as it is. Unfortunately, I have a ton of projects due both at work and for class, so devoting two-three hours to this (all at once) is time I don't have. I really just check in here randomly throughout the day when I need a break, to do updates, and to throw out trade offers.
