Also, not to be a prick to the new guys, but the reason we told you guys to read the rules is because we wouldn't want you to get surprised by a claim. Admittedly, it sucks to have to check in on it, but it's only Tuesday through Thursday. Also, it's not a shady process because it's outlined in the rules explicitly. Maybe we can grant you guys leniency this time...I wouldn't be against that.

As far as yahoo vs. Fleaflicker, I like FF because it's no frills, but one of the reasons we are using it because it can accomodate our large rosters...yahoo cannot as far as I know.
I don't think Pho is a "new guy". And we are both in the same boat with this PS thing.

Well, I made a couple of practice squad claims last year - I believe both were on Stoshie's team - but I also PM'ed him to tell him I was doing so. Was it in the rules that I had to? No. But I did it because I didn't want to "snake" someone from him. I wanted to give him fair opportunity to react. Because, let's face it, it is feasible that in a Tues-Thurs window an owner might not check in on fleaflicker. I mean if I know I've won/lost my game say by Sunday night...I might not bother to check in again until Thurs or Fri. If the game is close, like mine is tonight, then yes, I will check the site tomorrow. So there should be some other means by which an owner is notified, or we should expand the window for an owner to react to something more like 5 to 7 days so you can pretty much guarantee he will see it.

As for whether or not checking the ES Roster Thread before picking up a FA is a pain in the ass....YES, it is. So much so that I don't even bother to check anymore. I figure I'll just pick the guy up and if nobody says anything, then he really must have been a free agent (obviously I will stay away from rookies because I know why they are their, but I don't bother to check the vets).

Now, that's not a good thing because I SHOULD care to look and stay within the rules...but I don't care enough about the league to memorize/check up on all the rules. I do want to stay within the rules, but I just don't want to be bothered to research whether or not something I am doing is within certain boundaries.

Before you start lecturing me, I know I was involved in setting up the rules and I had input/agreed to everything that was in place. And I was excited about the league we were setting up. But for me, personally, life is pretty hectic now and will be for the near future...so I like for things to be simple when it comes to fantasy football.

I also considered quitting before the season began, but when we lost 2 owners from last year and Stoshie announced his retirement, I didn't want to add another quitter to the mix. Also, I would like to stick it out because it is a unique and pretty damn cool league...and I like all the owners...but sometimes I do wonder if we went overboard on this thing.

I have no problem giving Greene back to trizzy. I think its a weird system for PS claims, so I don't mind returning him if he want to change the rules for claims.

I don't think that's necessary because you did nothing wrong. Everything that was done was certainly within the rules. And I didn't mean to imply that anyone was underhanded in what they did (reading my comments a 2nd time I can see it may have come across that way). I just meant when I did it to Stoshie I wanted him to know I was coming after his guy and then wanted to see how he would react (move to active roster, give him up for draft picks, etc).

Certainly a nice offer on your part but I don't think it's necessary.

I wouldn't feel right taking him back at this point (though at the end of the season I plan on it).

It was done within the rules and I can't argue against that.

I just think its a ****ty system which I guess didn't register with me reading it on paper until I got ****ed out of one of my draft picks for the season. Oh well, one more thing added to the list of offseason discussion items.

Alright, well I like you guys. Skinut, we exchanged PM's/E-mails before we even joined this league. I respect your FF opinion and I simply enjoy being in a FF league with you.

Again, I've listed my issues with teh PS and the IR. I'd be lying if i said I didn't feel guilty about the Coffee claim.

At this point, what do we need to do to keep Skinsnut & Pho around for the long run? Do you guys even want to be in this league for the long haul? What rules/systems need to be tailored back a little (or a lot)?`

Honestly, I'd like to return Coffee to Pho's team. It was a shiesty move...I can say with a 100% certainty that if Pho would have seen my claim he would have put him on his active roster. I knew he wouldn't check FF...and I just feel guilty about it. I know what I did was within the rules but I still don't think that makes it right. I'd feel a lot better about all this if Coffee was returned to his owner

Kur, could you please place coffee on Pho's team?

28 - I'm in it for the long haul. The reason I thought about quitting was I don't have the time/my dedication did not match that of the other owners. The PS claim thing is a perfect example. I kinda just want to set my roster on a Friday or Saturday, check in on Sunday/Monday and see how I'm doing. I don't want to be checking message boards looking for someone laying claim to a player I have...

Life threw a little curve at me is all. I'm about 30 days away from being laid off for the second time in a year. So my efforts are now focused on finding another job. When this league was setup I was in a different situation and was ready for the commitment. I wasn't expecting this turn of events...so I feel bad that I'm not as committed as everyone else. You don't really need to change anything. I'll hang in there and still whip your asses...

For me, it comes down to a few things. The whole picking up of players is a total pain in the ass, having to check roster threads and **** before making a pickup. That needs to be made easier. Whether it means doing away with the practice squad and IR or just keeping those players on your active roster and being honest about it, either way is fine. But that needs to be simplified. If someone is in the free agent pool, he needs to be there for the taking.

Let's be honest, Yahoo may not have a dynasty setup, but it's not too hard to select the "draft offline" option and assign the players to each team at the beginning of the season. I personally hate Fleaflickers interface...both the message board, and little things like setting your rosters in a specific order or it won't work. It all adds up.

If we do decide to keep Practice Squads, there's got to be a better claims system in place.

We already discussed this in PM's. You got him fair and square under the rules in place. I don't expect him back and you shouldn't feel obligated to return him.

I, like 28, want Pho and Nut around for the long haul. I'm glad Nut's going to stick it out with us.

I think something we could do for the IR is just completely abolish it. At this point, more people get placed on IR who aren't injured than are. If we get rid of it, all the players in the fleaflicker FA pool would be legit, because anyone else would be on the PS or active roster. We don't really use IR that much anyway, and it would increase the depth in FA.

As for making the PS system easier, I think I like it the way it is. Maybe we should add a rule to contact the owner via PM when we claim. That way the person has notification once it happens and has a chance to react. I know not all of us have time to check fleaflicker, but I do feel like we all get on ES at least once a day or once every other day.

Damn, first of all, I'm sorry to hear about you being laid off. Hopefully you'll find another job shortly.

I don't mind that you don't have a PS...seriously doesn't bother me one bit. The PS is actually my favorite part of the whole thing. I get to have five no names that i have a huge hard on for on my team! If one of these fools pans out...I'll be bragging about it forever. Lets go Jacoby Jones & Mike Wallace!

I already proposed my 2 PS changes...

I think we could keep the IR for injured players...but I mean at this point with our rosters being the size they are we could just keep injured players on our rosters.

but I know what you guys are saying. I had Cadillac Williams on my team for about two months and I agreed to trade sending Cadillac to another team before I found out he was on someone elses IR. I also pick up MSW as you all remember...and in all honesty, when I picked up sidney rice last week; I didn't know if he was actually available.

as far as fleaflicker goes...I don't really mind the site. I actually kinda like it.

wow, some of this stuff has me absolutely baffled.

Guys, this entire system is one WE set up. So if something's wrong with it, then why wait until you feel like you're being "screwed" out of something? I believe Trizzy's words were something to the effect of being "****ed out of a draft pick". Honestly, you weren't ****ed out of anything. Everything went down according to the written rules. Admittedly, those rules need to be tinkered with to bring things to a more level playing field. And Trizz, i'm not calling you out. I know you understand that things went down according to the rules. And i think we can all agree we need some changes on that front.

Fellas, i KNOW i'm in a complicated league here. One that takes more time and thought than a regular league. So, i plan accordingly. I know we have a PS and an IR, so i take special precautions to make sure that they are legal/accurate at all times. I make sure to check the FF board frequently, because even though nothing really gets said there, that's the place that we agreed upon putting the PS claims. Now if you can't do the same, then simply put....maybe this ISN'T the league for you at this point. No one needs their hand held here, we're all big boys.

Now i'm not trying to say that i'm the man and everyone, or anyone else in particular is lazy or doesn't pay attention. I'm just saying that the excuses of not knowing this, or not knowing that, and the constant asking of dumbass questions that have been answered time and time again, or are EASY to find in the rules post, fall on deaf ears with me. i have just as complicated a life as the next guy, yet i know what i signed up for, so i keep up with it, and enjoy it. Again, if you can't do the same, perhaps it's time to think about other options.

I want to be in this league for years, because one and done's are pretty much getting to be old hat for me. This league is my favorite one i've ever been in, and i guess it just aggravates me that the stupid questions and lack of understanding of rules happens so frequently. No one is expected to be perfect. But i do think everyone is capable of, and responsible for knowing the rules.

-So i'm a yes for the claimee of a PS claim being made aware by the claimer either via pm or email.

-i can go whatever way you guys want to go on the PS claimee having to decide wether or not he wants to keep his player, or take the compensation prior to the end of the season.

-I don't really want to make any changes to the IR. It's complicated, but until we can find a way to use an IR without using active roster spots, i'm a vote for keeping it exactly the way it is. It is NOT that hard to update your ES rosters, to accurately reflect which guys in the FA pool are on IR. And if that's too much for you, then maybe you should seek out something more "simple". I mean geez guys come on, how do you think fantasy leagues were done before everything could be put into one simple interface (such as Yahoo, ESPN, whatever)??? Paper, big boards, lots and lots of record and stat keeping. Just be glad we don't have to deal with all that.

-Everyone needs to remember that the reason we started with Flea Flicker, as was mentioned earlier, was because it could accomodate our larger roster sizes. I know Kur is working to see what he can do as far as Yahoo goes, but the bottom line may be that Flea Flicker is the only free setup that allows for our large squads, PS, IR,yadda yadda yadda.

-Finally, maybe all official claims and league business should be posted on this board instead of the FF board, simply because everyone checks this one far more frequently so it seems. I know we had reasons for using that board for certain things, but at this point it just seems to make sense to try to keep things in one place for everyone as much as we can.

Again, i like everyone in this league. I just want to know that we have dedicated managers, who WANT to contribute to the intracacies of this league, as opposed to beat them down and complain about them everytime something goes awry.

    Sorry for the novel. lol
