Agreed. But can we agree beforehand that we should only seriously consider well-known members who are very active? I'm not saying they need a minimum post count or whatever. But it would help to have one of the board's
regular personalities who's always around. Obviously we want the best candidate, preferably the most enthusiastic/biggest fantasy football nerd. But a personality and a presence in this thread is necessary, too.

Ok, I messaged Kur and basically said that the league has voted him out. I told him we understand he's busy and that's cool. If he finds the time and availability in the future to come back to the league, I'd vouch for his re-entry. But as of right now, we have to find a replacement owner, and either Pho or myself needs the commisionership handed over.
So we'll see what he says when he gets back to me. In the meantime, can someone copy our rules from the roster thread? We're going to need a new thread posted by a current league member so that we can edit it since Kur was the author of the original one.
As for a replacement owner, I agree someone from ES with a strong presence is prefered. Throwing around ideas for a replacement is good, keep it up. My main focus right now though is concentrating on getting this thing with Kur resolved so we can get things rolling again. I'll feel better once the flea flicker dilemma is taken care of.
I copied it into the OP of this thread...will also add the drafts at some point.
Thanks drop for taking care of that... I guess we just wait and see what happens...
I agree we need to look carefully at new owners... But I don't want to get too tied up in post count.. I have been on this forum for 8 years or so and did not post much before joining the league... I did check the forum daily and read just about every new thread... So while an important criteria it shouldn't be a deal breaker on somebody...
Thanks for taking care of that dirty business drop, I hope it turns out well.
Forehead, thanks for copying that over.
GO, I definitely understand your concerns. Just seems like its easier to know what kind of guy/personality you're getting if they have a presence on ES. Again, I don't think we should have a post count requirement. It could be someone who mostly posts in the tailgate. I was mostly just saying that choosing a guy who's ONLY around for this league COULD be bad. For instance, CMill is a good fantasy owner who inherited a good team, but he hasn't been able to bring much to this thread in terms of personality and activity. So while I'd rather have him than a guy who runs his team into the ground, I'd also rather have a good fantasy owner who is REALLY enthusiastic and active, with a personality here, than a guy like CMill. No offense to him, he's a busy guy as well it seems.

Ha, I never noticed until now that both GO and I have been here since 2004 and we have the lowest post count of all the league members.
As for the replacements, I understand wanting to get an established board member to take over Kur's team but there is no guarantee one will even apply. When it comes down to it, after evaluating all of the applicants, I am going to vote for the person I think will be the best fantasy player of the bunch first and foremost. I'd like to think the more active and attentive they are with their team will also bring increased activity on this message board.
That being said...
What would you guys think of making the first year for all replacement owners a "probationary period"? That way after the year we can evaluate everything they bring to the table and decide if we want to make this person a full fledged league member or move on to someone else. If we make this clear to the applicants up front, it might entice them to stay highly involved with both their team and this thread. We would just have to lay out our expectations to them from the get go and let them know if they don't meet those expectations they can be replaced. Just a thought.
As a spin off of that idea, we might also want to consider a "probation" program for all league members. Something like this would be a way of letting someone know they are skating on thin ice so to speak. It would be considered fair warning to allow them to rectify the situation and improve their league standing or face the consequences. I just say this because after going thru this thread a little the last few days and giving it some thought, I do feel like we kind of blind sided Kur with all of this. I don't know what went on thru PM between people and what not but it seemed like nothing specific was brought up until the end of the season then the bomb was dropped. Maybe if we would have had a process in place to give Kur and the rest of the members notice that he wasn't meeting the expectations of the league, it wouldn't have had to go down like this.
In my mind a probation program would be used to bring issues to light not only for the member in question but also for the rest of the league. This gives the owner a heads up that they need to pick up the slack for the rest of the season while also saying to the rest of the league "we need to evaluate this owner's performance". If the owner rectifies the situation and meets the approval of the league by the end of the season, they are retained as a member and probation is lifted for the following year. If they fail to rectify the situation, they are then subject to dismissal through league vote. As far as who decides when to institute probation on an owner, I think that would fall with our 2 commissioners Forehead and Drop. Both have been around a long time and know this league and it's members very well and I would trust them to make this kind of decision for the best interest of the league.
Just some thoughts to consider.

This thread and what was that thread in the tailgate that banned couting posts. AFHB thread or some ****.
Anyway. Probably doesn't even matter now but I was legit confused by Kur did he want to remain in the league? or did he just not give a ****?And my ideal member would be another Conn or CCFF. Just want someone who is active and loves footabll too much. And they gotta know their ****. Anyone who knows less than Fancy should not be considered (In your face, son). After this Kur business is dealt with, we'll see what kind of response/interest we get.
only reason my post count is above 2K is because of this thread. lol

I don't approach that huge Fantasy thread in the Tailgate, because most of those guys are ****ing amateurs. That's right, I'm a fantasy elitist.
Anyways, I know there are a lot of prominent members who post in that thread all season, who are obviously into FF. Maybe we could scour that thread and recruit someone who looks like they know their ****/is cool. As long as its not ACW or BubbleScreen.
But actually, now that I think of it, we're better letting them come to us when we advertise. We want to see whose really desperate to join. I'm sure that I radiated desperation when I was "applying" for this league...I practically begged. I wanted in so badly.
