Oh and so everyone knows...i would definitley set it so that the league reminders box is displayed at the top of the MFL page.

Go to the top right corner, click Customize page. Then look for the options Basic/Change Password/Customize/Contact Info etc....

Click on Customize, then scroll down and you'll see Display "League Reminders" on the top of the league homepage. Make sure that "yes" is checked. That'll show you when you have pending trades, polls to vote in etc.

TDR, i'm sorry buddy but i had to change that ****ty ass helmet you picked. I don't care that it's Penn State, i cared that it looked huge, fugly, and out of place. I replaced it with a PSU helmet from MG. There's others if you want to look around. mghelmets.com

For the rest of you who haven't updated your franchise logo yet....i have temporarily given you a helmet until you can put one in there yourself. I think you'll find my selections MORE than appropriate.

Hey, those take effort you know. Besides which, CCFF hasn't done anything recently to set me off, Riggo and Hitman barely talk, and I can only remind GOSKN5 about that Glen Coffee trade so many times before it gets old. Oh wait, no it doesn't, are you aware I traded GO a player for a second rounder, and then the player retired from football a few months later. Jesus that still brings a smile to my face. The only time I get a bigger grin is when your mother has my fat one in her ass. And I make her bleach that ****, you better believe it.

Well one thing we need to get done before we put the ad out, is have everyone sign up and get their **** straight at MFL. Here's where we're at:

Obviously the last step isn't as critical, you can setup your franchise helmet/team name at your leisure. But i STILL need an email address, and I still need a few to get logged into MFL. I need everyone to check their rosters and make sure they look right if you haven't done so yet. I really wanted everyone to have this all done within the same small window of time so I only have to answer questions once and explain stupid **** like why our records aren't right from our final season on Flea Flicker, etc etc.

Once we get everyone on MFL, we can choose our replacement owner. If trying to get everyone's attention to vote in a new owner is as difficult as getting some email addresses, I'm gonna have Conn post the ad, see who responds, and those of us who are around are going to pick our replacement owner. The whole voting and sending it to PM thing is just a lot of unnecessary work. There's certain things a league needs to have votes on...i don't necessarily think replacement ownership is a critical one. We just need to get a new, competent owner in here quickly and easily. Those who aren't around as much don't have to be worried with it, and i don't have to chase them down for a vote. They can get caught up with the new guy when they're around.

Conn can you pm me the ad that you have? I wanted to read it again before you posted it. Have you tweaked anything on it yet? We'll def have to add that it's hosted on MFL, $30 buy in, advertise the payout structure as TBD since it's our first year as a pay league, and make it known we'll need an email address from them as well.

Understood...but are we really worried about that in this league after our last go around with the issue? I'm not personally. I don't see the need for incentive when there isn't a problem to be concerned about.

I honestly think after one year of being a money league, it won't even be an issue worth discussing. When you have earnings for division championships and 2nd place, along with the champion...there's more incentive to be better. And is having your team name changed REALLY going to make anyone get any better? I honestly don't think so. It is odd that the three teams who had their names changed made the playoffs...but i don't think our names being changed was the reason we made the turn around....it would be silly to say that. It's more likely that we already have a very close, competetive league, and it only took a few tweaks for Pho, TDR, and myself to seperate ourselves in our divisions.

We added this rule for a reason, and it was because it happened. I'm not saying it's intentional; in a lot of ways it's natural. I want a reason for teams that are out of the money in the last three weeks of the season to be active in fielding the best lineup possible. I think this is very important for dynasty leagues, and absent this rule, we don't have a reason.

Making this a money league as well only accentuates this concern, IMO. We are adding a reward to the winners, and taking a penalty aware from the losers. I am open to trying this city name thing but I would like to see a replacement mechanism to penalize losers.

The penalty to losers is that you don't get any money. If someone wants to constantly tank and shell out $30 a year, let them go right ahead. With money on the line, that's incentive enough to try to win.

I seriously doubt someone who is willing to tank is going to care what their team name is.... dont think it will stop them in any way... also dont think we have to worry about it... if it becomes an obvious issue we have a commish who can address it and penalize if needed

CCFF...buddy, i think you're missing the point here. Fancy and GO just explained it as easily as possible. Who the hell is going to keep throwing away $30 a year if they can't field a decent fantasy football team? It just doesn't make sense...moving this to a pay league will deter the tanking. As i said before, no one is playing for the 1st round pick...there's no money in that. Plus, the other 11 owners in this league won't let it go on. I'm sure someone will notice, someone will bring it up, and appropriate action will be taken.

With MFL, i've made it impossible to start a player who's on a bye. You won't be able to submit a lineup with a player on a bye week. So you'll either field your best team, or at the very least you'll have to put a playable roster in there. If we notice teams who are putting forth LESS than their best effort when it comes to submitting their lineup, we'll address it. But as I said before, i don't see this being a problem. If it is, we deal with it. This league with all it's stupid nuances about league votes for replacement owners and penalizing IR/PS movement that's incorrect has gotten out of hand. These types of issues can be dealt with privately and swiftly, and without 10 paragraphs of bylaws about them. I think we've mucked up the works too much in this league through our OVERLY democratic methods, and it doesn't do anything but drag issues out and make things take forever. It is my belief, that a great deal of this comes from our league infrastructure. The combination of Flea Flicker and this message board isn't the best for a league as dedicated as ours. Flea Flicker is great for leagues that nobody really gives a damn about. But an invested league like this one deserves better. A good commisioner and co-commisioner can deal with issues that arrise most of the time. We really don't need 5 pages about how you'll be penalized the first time, the second time, the third time etc for roster violations and so on. And yes, much of that was my doing...but it's not necessary moving to a money league and with a move to MFL. MUCH of that can be regulated purely through MFL's setup and what we will, and won't be allowed to do.

GO's right, renaming teams is NOT a deterent from tanking. Nobody is going to give a damn what there team name is in a free league if they can just keep getting the 1st pick and improve their team in 3 to 4 years. In a pay league, we accelerate the rate at which teams want to improve and win....why? Because there's money on the line. If anyone is playing fantasy football for money and doing that...they're idiotic and they need to find a new hobby.

This is very simple. I think the renaming teams idea has run it's course. It was fun for a year, it'll be fun to see what Pho comes up with for the teams this year...but other than that, it's just not nearly as fun, or as much of an incentive to be better as it is when participating in a money league. CCFF, i'm not trying to shoot you down, i just think the renaming idea is suited for a free league. I'm trying to bring some uniformity and consistency to this league in addition to making it something more worth caring about (because honestly participation has been an issue with at least ONE person, every offseason that I can remember). I care about this league and i've been here since the beginning. I want this thing to be better than it's been, and move forward with the same core group of good owners for years to come. I'm in this thing for the long haul and i've used MFL the last two years. I've quickly learned that it is VASTLY superior to Flea Flicker and it can be a GREAT benefit to the future of this league. Plus, the dedication level in this level is simply more suited for MFL. This is where real leagues play...we need to move out of the dark ages of Flea Flicker and these bible like scripts of bylaws that are scattered and incomplete. With MFL, our league, our bylaws, our scoring, our rules, our trades, even a chat.....everything we need will be right on the main page.

Finally, I hate to do this to you CCFF, but i did the same thing to TDR. Yes, MFL has their own helmet icons you can use. But they're ugly and they suck. I would really appreciate it if the entire league would pick a helmet from mghelmets.com as i've asked a couple times already. It will bring a much more uniform look to the league page. And fellas, the league page is only going to get better. I've got a buddy from another league who's working on a league header banner, and three division banners for us. Another thing we could do would be team banners...lol, but i don't know if i can get dude to make me 12 banners for a league he's not a part of. It's a decent amount of work and it isn't like i'm paying him anything. But trust me, if you guys just listen to me this offseason, we're gonna have one sweet ass league page, and league in general. MFL will grow on those of you who are unfamiliar or have their reservations about it. By the end of the season, you'll be thanking me that we switched. As the year rolls on, and when the draft comes, you guys will start to find more and more that you like about MFL, i almost guarentee it.

And guys, believe me when i say this. When i started on MFL two years ago, i was lost. It was a HUGE overload compared to the Flea Flickers, CBS's, and Yahoo's of the world that i was used to. But i quickly learned why it was so much better than all those other options. Give it a chance.
