CCFF, check MFL's message board. I just gave my thoughts on the PS overhaul in a post where I'm reminding everyone about the two polls we currently have that need to be voted on.

I reset my password again as they never sent it the last time I did. When I get logged in I'll vote. Here are my thoughts:

If there is no claiming system, it's not a practice squad. If the league votes to abolish the claiming system, the practice squad becomes just another roster spot. Subsequent changes to make those roster spots exposed to claims at somepoint in the future will be very hard as people will be giving up roster spots value. It's much easier to make a practice squad spot a roster spot than the other way around.

Furthermore, abolishing the claiming system isnt necessary because is there is no confusion surrounding it, it just doesn't work. We already use the practice squad as if people were never going to be claimed, what difference does abolishing the claiming system make, except make it barder to put a new one in? I will be voting to keep the claiming system. If we make a change, let's get it right.

For anyone new to MFL, you can expand the chat by going to Communications>League Chat at the very top of the page. Should triple the number of messages still in the chat for you, in case you missed some stuff.

So, CCFF....You are saying that the broken claim system is for all intents and purposes the same as none at all, yet you'll vote to keep the broken version? I don't necessarily agree that it will be harder to change from none, than it would be to change from the current broken system.

Because I think we all like the IDEA of the current claims system and the strategy it entails. It just doesn't work at all, as evidenced by the fact that it has almost never been utilized in like six years.

I'd love a simple yet workable alternative, and I'm going to give your proposal a thorough read-through tonight. But I think it's easier to change from a clean slate, than it is to throw your option, or a similar one, into a poll with two other options.

Sometimes you have to tear something down in order to rebuild it into something better, rather than remodeling and renovating the existing flawed structure. I think it's easier this way.

I understand your and drop's point about starting from a clean slate and appreciate your giving this system a chance with an open mind. Keep in mind, if we want to encourage more claims, we can decrease the compensation required. So long as people dont get too comfy with no claiming system, hopefully people will be open to exposing those spots to a system that encourages claims.

haha, really? i had no idea leaguesafe was sending out so many emails. Not something im doing on purpose fellas, i sent out one email to everyone. Leaguesafe must just be persistent so the commish doesn't have to, haha.

Unlike you hillbillies, I live in NE. CT, to be precise. Currently I'm snowed in. 20+ inches of snow and no end in sight. Pretty cool, as my work is closing tomorrow and I already have Sunday-Monday off...so now I get a three day weekend to get drunk in a blizzard. Awesome!

Fridays aren't my partying night anyways. I have to work at 5:30 Saturday mornings normally, so that's a no-go. So I'm on here a lot on Friday nights. Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday nights are the nights I can let it loose.
