...ask yourself if IDP scoring really matters? I mean the Cereal Killers have Adrian Peterson at RB, Andre and Chad Johnson at WR...so does it really matter if you get 1 point per tackle or 3 points per tackle when you are facing these offensive juggernauts?

    Total points: 17.1 points

...pfft...I'm not claiming I will go undefeated. My squad might have an off week...maybe even two...but in the end, the result will be a Super Bowl title for the Killers.

...now go recalculate the scores in the week AP ran for 296 yards...

week 9 when AP ran for all those yards
    Adrian Peterson - 296 rush yards, 3 tds, 1 catch, 19 receiving yards, 1 fumble lost = 48.5 points
    Andre Johnson - Injured
    Chad Johnson - 3 catches, 48 yards, 1 rush, 1 yard = 7.9 points

56.4 total points. 18.8 points per player

without APs big game, youve got nothing again. and AP isnt going to put up 300 yards every game to balance out AJ and CJ.

and its not a matter of 1 point per tackle or 3 points. its .5 points or 1 point. that essentially doubles an IDPs score per week. making them more important than AJ or CJ on a week to week basis.

...of course AP is not going to run for 300 yds every week. The subtle point I was trying to make was why did he select only week 8 for my players stats? A week when 2 of them had off weeks and one was injured?

.5 points, 1 point, 6 points...doesn't matter...the Killers will instill fear in every team we face this year. Just you wait and see...

"...ask yourself if IDP scoring really matters? "

I think that's the point of contention. We want each position to "matter" to some degree. RBs will always be king but we awarded bonus points to kickers to get them in the scoring mix.

"Question...lets say I draft terrell suggs, I can play him at either DE or LB, correct?"

you will be able to play him in whatever position Yahoo has him. ie: 1 yr Cooley was a TE/WR and a guy in the league had the option of starting him at either position

    "have we made any changes?"

I think we may need to pause and hash this thing out. I think it was Chu that said he would have drafted differently if IDP points we different. We're not so far past him in the draft that I would be averse to letting him go back and change his pick but we shouldn't go any further until we come to a consensus.

I'll do some checking on the IDP "standard" scoring.

thanks MCM @NFLFever2 for the sig

oh, we were supposed to be scared of your team? my bad, i must have missed that subtle point.....

you should try harder next time.

any pausing should take place at the end of the round, before the next one starts. im not so sure about letting someone go back and redo a pick though.

if we redo the points for IDP, it should just be announced after the last pick of the current round, then people adjust their draft charts accordingly. but nothing should change with the picks already made. i think we are in the 8th round. so rounds 1-8 should be final. then if we change the IDP scoring, it should only affect rounds 9 and up.

    ok, "standard" scoring

1 pt for solo tackle, .5 for assist, 3 for an INT, 3 for a sack.

They don't have a DT component but I think the t/over numbers should be the same anyway. I also don't like the assist points but that's just me. I think the main point for us is the 1 pper tackle. Loosely, a 10 tackle performance is as good as a 100 yd rushing day for a RB and I'd agree.

those sound good to me. i thought it would be 2 points for an int/sack/fumble. but 3 is cool.

i never said it in those words, but it was what i meant.....a strong 10 tackle day by a defender should have as much value as a 100 yard rushing or receiving day.

so good job in verbalizing it the way you did.

that's fair enough (for me) as well.

I think it was Chu who said he would have picked differently and for this league and with the time that we have I'm willing to give a ton of latitude to keep everyone happy. If he's ok w/that, ok by me, but if he has major heartburn w/it, I'd want to try to accomodate him.

oh, and did you pull those standard scoring numbers from a yahoo league? is there any way to get the league set up now? or do we have to wait until they open their fantasy registration for the 08 season like in july or whenever?

no, that was from a question that was asked in a FF forum that I frequent.

I don't think you're going to be able to set up a league on Yahoo yet.

Good point. If we wait til the start of round 9, then I think any changes made are fair to everyone.
