yeah we'll have to tweak the schedule to have 6 playoff teams. NFL weeks 13 - 16 is fine with me.

Matt, 28, B&G, and myself are all in favor of adding 2 more playoff teams to bring the total to 6, and have the playoff schedule run from week 13 - 16 of the regular NFL.

It's just that a gaping hole like that should in some way be avoidable, especially when these kinds of things seem to happen later in the season when a team looks injury ravaged and possibly out of contention. That puts other teams at a disadvantage by giving up an easy win to your opponent.

And it just doesn't make sense to add a QB who is definitley going to start, to be a possible replacement for a questionable QB, and not at least plug him in over the guy who may not even play at all. Wether an honest error or not, we've got to prevent tanking. Pho probably did make an honest mistake. He's at least popped in and made comments about his confidence in the restructuring of his team. We just can't allow the "oh well if i lose it just makes my draft pick better" mentality when that too can directly affect teams and put them at a disadvantage.

Sure some guys get screwed with the "gametime" decision tag on a player every now and then, that's understandable. But to willingIy not make an effort to fill a hole seems a bit unreasonable. And every team in this league should be expected to finish out the season and continue trying to win every game until the playoffs arive. We start and finish with division rivalries every season in this league, so where's the chatter? Some of our members don't even pop in to the message board at all, and others are extremely few and far between.

I noticed last week that CCFF would wrap up the wild card with a win and eliminate a whole slew of teams by doing so. And with B&G and Matt both losing, Trizz wrapped up his division. Yet we have no one talking about anything. Nothing about Triamcinolone having the best record at 9 - 4, despite seemingly never making trades and rarely visiting the waiver wire. Nothing about the playoff spots being wrapped up a week before the end of the regular season. Nothing about the trade deadline. Nothing about the East division basically swapping rosters in some way shape or form in the last few weeks before the deadline, and 28 winning it for a 4th straight season.

    ---------- Post added December-6th-2011 at 08:07 AM ----------

and just curious, would anyone else be interested in adding two more wildcard teams to the playoff format for next year, or is everyone happy with 4 spots as it has been?
Sorry for not talking trash, it's not that I don't like to mix it up or stir the pot, I'm just an avid believer in jinxes.

Also, in an earlier post GO called out some people for not making trades to improve their team, eventhough they are winning. I don't know for sure but he may be refering to me here because I didn't want to trade him for a RB after Fred Jackson went down. I can't speak for everyone else but I personally felt that when it came to my team, I had a strong enough team to still compete even without Jackson. I guess the fact that I was able to assemble a pretty strong receiving cast - acquiring Boldin and Vincent Jackson - to supplement my weakness at RB's going into the season should be ignored? I've been winning without Charles, I'm still winning without Jackson so why should I allow myself to be "forced" into a trade?

I'm in on this. We should definitely go towards a more standard format with the schedule/playoff bracket. So that's 5 so far. I really don't see this NOT passing.

    ---------- Post added December-6th-2011 at 02:35 PM ----------

Inactivity of certain league members still needs to be addressed, I don't want that part of drops earlier post to get passed by. But that can wait till after the Championship when we've got nothing else to do, since its pretty controversial and awkward. Atrizzy, I'm definitely not talking about lack of trades, I agree with you...its more lack of presence/existence in the league at all. The lack of chatter on the message board, etc. is unacceptable in my opinion, but it goes beyond that.

Yeah Trizz i don't think anyone's talking to you in particular. You're an active member in the league and you always speak up when there are issues to be voted on and what not.

Yeah like I said I dont know if it was directed at me or not, just that I know I turned down an offer from GO to trade after Fred got hurt. And Its not my intent to make it seem like I took offense to it, because thats not the case at all. I just wanted to state my thought process behind keeping my team as is. If I didnt have the WRs I have now, yes I probably would have traded for a back.

Naw trizz my post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular and was not generally speaking about trades... More about waivers... And byes or positions that could be improved significantly,... And there are a few spots where a team or two could have improved a good amount through waivers....

PS I also believe in jinx and superstition so I rarely talk trash prior to doing something!! I am more of an after the fact trash talker!!

Also I say yes to adding two more wildcards

    Ahem.

And Jesus, I leave for a few days and you all grow vaginas. I would actually not be in favor of expanding to 6 playoff teams, and that's coming from someone who's only made the playoffs once in our league's history. Don't get me started.

As far as the consolation bracket, I think it's a good idea that the winner gets the first pick, but it seems a little drastic. Maybe we can think of something else to get everyone's interest piqued even if they're not in the real playoffs.

As for a perceived lack of participation, you can measure it objectively in two ways: number of posts in this thread or number of roster spots filled by players who are not active. Neither seems reasonable to me. If you want ****-talking, that's one thing, but I don't think that's equivalent to "participation" in a league.

****, just wrote out some **** that sounded all nice and my ****ing ipad crashed while editing! I doubt this will sound as good, but that's probably more appropriate anyways.

My apologies for not being more active in trash talk. I've been trying to avoid drama, honestly, but have found plenty of it in another league that I am in that I designed and have been commisioner of for the past two years. The best analogy I can give of the commissionerhsip is that it is like herding cats: some are perfectionists, some are quiet to distinterested, and some just want to fight. At the end of the day, we probably are all in this league and play fantasy football for slightly different reasons, but I think we can agree that we want to have a good time with some good fantasy football.

Now, some catching up to do:

1- I think the worst team in the league deserves the best pick, but Im def open to some mechanism to encourage late season participation. Maybe we can change the stake of the last quarter of the season. Maybe this is an opportunity to use team name changes and division name changes as incentives. I think we can get creative here for incentives.

2- Im not against going to 6 teams making the playoffs, but do not think we should hold the vote now, immediately after teams were selected for the playoffs. We have the luxury of waiting, so why not? There are futher considerations that need to be discussed as well, such as the need to switch to 4 divisions to make sure that each team plays every other team in the league.

3- Lets try to avoid a "prove yourself to league" moment, here fellas. I agree that something needed to be said, but I believe that the tough decisions that lie before this league will make them for themselves.

4- Maybe we can plan to hangout around draft time? Not only would it be a blast but it could serve to help us with some of the participation problems.

I honestly think that since Pho's team is the worst in the league and he's obviously semi-checked out, this should be considered blatant tanking for a top draft pick, and he should be "punished" with a win, if he doesn't pull one out anyways. Or something.

We need to do something to discourage checking out at the end of the year to "accidentally" continue tanking. I don't care what Pho's excuse is, and I'm sure there's a pretty good one, this loss helps his team in the long run because once again he'll have a top draft pick. Its inexcusable.

But to leave the guy in who's questionable, only to figure, "well i'll take him out if he doesn't play", but then actually LEAVE him in there....not cool.

I don't know if I agree that there's some action we can take in this instance though. We have nothing in the rules about it, so I think it's something we need to look at correcting. Conn is right, there needs to be something done to discourage tanking and to prevent all these holes in lineups that have happened this season. Not playing a QB because it can only help you, or not playing a RB when there are plenty of guys who could be picked up on the waiver wire who AT LEAST have the possibility to get you a point or two is kind of ridiculous.

And further more, being that we're on our 4th season, this may be as good an offseason as any to evaluate everyone's participation level and begin figuring out who is really interested in this league and who isn't. There's been half a league's worth of bare mininmum participation this season, and some of us have noticed it and talked to each other about it already. Might be time to figure out what direction to go with this league fellas.
Can I believe what I'm reading? Are you two ****ing kidding me? The only way this could have been more ridiculous/insulting is if CCFF had written it. You both need to step back for a minute and shut the **** up. But since you both decided to fire off, let me walk you through a few things.

    1. My QB situation. Schaub, goes on IR for the year a few weeks ago. Curtis Painter, desperation pickup as he's the only starter on the FA list at the time. Replaced by Orlovsky, who I pick up. I leave Freeman in because, you know, it's Dan ****ing Orlovsky who hasn't played in how many seasons, and has never won a game, and is starting for the ****ing Colts?!? And I'm supposed to plug him in over my young gun who has never missed a game in his entire career? Yeah, I'll pass on that.

    2. My level of participation, I think is obvious by the fact that I drop in here occasionally to put you sackless ****s in your place, but Fleaflicker has a handy tool called a Transaction Log, which you can sort by team. If you had done so, you would have seen 15-20 moves I've made over the past two months to either fill in for byes or attempt to make minor improvements. Including having a current backup QB. It boggles my mind that it would be even whispered that I might be tanking, considering I traded away one of my first round picks in the upcoming draft. Not only that, I traded him to Drop, one of the people who decided to open his mouth for some reason other than putting a sandwich in it, which makes this accusation even stupider. At the time, I was 2-4 or 2-5, but had still somehow scored more points than the teams I had played, which means I either blew a few people out, or lost a bunch of close games. Hardly the mark of an uncompetitive team, so I traded for a starting running back who promptly got hurt a month later.

    3. I won the game against B&G, even without a starting QB. Which says as much about his team as it does my keeping the roster updated.

    4. Why didn't I plus in Orlovsky? Well let's just go over that. For starters, FleaFlicker still won't give me status updates. I hover over those little icons and all I get is a small white question mark, no note. This has been occuring for more than a month. So I'm not sure when Freeman was ruled out, but it wouldn't have mattered.

Friday night, my kid wakes up around 11:00 screaming bloody murder, because she vomited all over the place while asleep. (Something I put my hand in, in the dark, before I figured out what happened.) So into the tub she goes, into the laundry goes all her bedding, remake the bed etc.....except that cycle happened two more times...two more baths, two more laundry cycles. I didn't get to bed until 2:30.

Why does this matter? Because I had to get up at 6:00 a.m. Saturday to run a 15K race I had signed up for. Here's the link to the results, ****heads.

What were you all doing on Saturday? Sitting around on your fat asses eating chips and watching football? And after running damn near 10 miles, what do I do? Come back home and spend the rest of the day cleaning our house and rearranging furniture because, oh that's right, my wife is 8-1/2 months pregnant with our second kid and we're trying to prepare for that arrival. To top it off, I get an e-mail from Jumbo asking me to handle one of those official threads in the Stadium which takes up a portion of my Sunday morning since I spent more time on it than I was supposed to, apparently.

Keep your ****ing opinions about my participation and roster to yourselves until you know what's going on. Oh, some of you have been exchanging PM's about the participation level in this league, whispering like little girls to each other? Fine, keep it up, I'll post publicly like a man. No one in this league has sunk to a Chuong or King level, least of all me, who has been actively fighting each week with what ammunition I still have left.

So to recap, **** all of you, except Matt, I've decided he's fine, and CCFF, for shockingly being one of the only people who hasn't annoyed me at this juncture. The only "tank" that should be associated with me is the one I wish I owned, so I could drive it over your cars with you in them.

Nice post man!! Hahaha this league trips me out we have to have one of these drama filled arguments about once a month....

I figured you had a good reason, I think you have been plenty active with your team... I was honestly not talking about your situation either... I don't think anyone would tank in this league... I do think a member or two are not as into as they were and need to decide if they want to be involved or if they have too much going on... Which is fine...

That was my concern... If anyone myself included needed to drop out because of time/life etc...
