A thread started today which provoked a couple of bannings and outrage prompted this thought. What is unassailable to you? What do you hold in the highest esteem?
Is it Mom, apple pie, the White House? Is it the Redskins, Joe Gibbs, D Green. Is it the Church, the Torah, Buddah?
What do you honor and hold in the highest esteem.
For me, I have always said that I love my country more than any government and I believe that holds true today. The ideals, beliefs and spirit of the United States of America is incredibly durable and powerful and important to me. As for the Presidency, I have respect for the office, but individuals... not quite as much. They're human and capable of faltering or being corrupted. Apple pie? You can't go wrong with a good apple pie especially when served with ice cream. Mom? I will always deeply respect my mom for who she is, what she has accomplished, and what she survived to try to give me oppoutunities.
God? Are you nuts? Of course, I do. Well, I believe in a creator. Church? Not so much. I believe that the chruch and bible (and Torah) are tools that are often misused and have been sources of abuse.
Anyway, I'm blathering. Have you become so cynical that you hold nothing in high esteem anymore or are there still things that you believe in to the depths of your soul (or for you heathens) consciousness?
