Redman, they are wonderful pets, completely devoted to their humans*. Distinctive personalities, very loving, quiet and well behaved.

Codeorama, they are so fast you wouldn't believe it. Electronically timed at a 1.1 40 . Don't confuse them, though, with the greyhounds you may have seen racing at a dogtrack. The Italian greyhound is a much smaller dog. Buster, the mature (grey) male in this picture weighs about 15 lbs and stands about 13" at the shoulder. Phoebe is a puppy but it appears she will be petite even for this breed. We think she will weigh no more than 8-9 lbs.

Redman, the IG's almost always have a funny look on their faces. They are very expressive and the different looks they give crack me up too.

    * IG's are not owned by anyone!

I posted this pic a while back, but this is Zoe... she is my brother's boxer...
My dog Murphy and Zoe love playing together, my brother's kids say they are boyfriend and girlfriend so for this past christmas, we had Murphy give her a matching Harley Davidson collar with an engagement ring on it... (it was a 8 dollar Walmart replica... ).. but it was a huge hit with the kids...

    B&G,

I see you did the May/December thing as well.

Mine are 8 years apart (10 and 2). It took awhile for the older one to warm up to the youngster (even kicked her @ss on a couple of occasions) but they're pretty much buddies now.

How far apart are your two?

Codeorama, they aren't related but are inseparable best friends. Kurp, my friend, these little dogs are so sociable we thought it only natural that Buster should have a friend, so we got Phoebe for him (at least thats what we tell everyone ) They are a little over a year apart.

Cody was really sad when his mother Chelsea passed away in 2000. We figured Murphy would keep him company. Cody used to be wild and sometimes slightly annoying, but when Chelsea was gone, he calmed down and really took on her personality. Murphy is wild. Cody gets annoyed with him sometimes, but if Cody ever thinks Murph is hurt, he runs over to check him out. They do take care of each other, but sometimes Murph deserves to get nipped at.

    This was Cody's mom Chelsea

How I missed this one I'll never know.

Here's Raisa at about 6 months or so. She turns 11 months next weekend.

Wow, German Shepherds are such a magnificent breed. What a beauty Raisa is!

I remember watching the Westminster Dog Show several years ago and one of the semi-finalists for best in show was a GS. He was the most spectacularly beautiful dog I've ever seen and was clearly the crowd's favorite.

Codeorama, in return for your wonderful poem, The Rainbow Bridge, my wife sends this bit of prose she hopes you will enjoy:

    A Dog's Prayer:

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in the world is more grateful for kindness than my loving heart.

Do not break my spirit with a stick for though I would lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the worldıs sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet please take me inside for I am now a domestic animal no longer used to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though you had no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper. Keep my pan filled with fresh water for, although I would not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food that I may stay well to romp and play and do your biding, walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should yours be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to take my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather, hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was ever safe in your hands.

Thanks guys, she's my baby. I should have some newer pics of her soon. Five months later, her markings have changed quite a bit. The pic makes her look a little big. I would call her average in size at this point, and she should top out at about seventy five lbs.

She was an accident. Both parents have papers, but weren't intended to breed together bieng the farther is a Sable coated, and mom black and tan. We didn't care about papers anyway.

She's gotten better with the soccer balls, and hasn't trashed the latest one, the fourth. She now also has a "Jolly Ball" intended for horses which is as near to industructable as you can get. It has a handle which she's learned to carry the ball back to me with it hanging out so I can grab it easy.

She's a member of our family, and nothing but a joy to have with us.
