What We Wanted To Be When We Grew Up

Most of us.........if not all of us........had childhood dreams of what "we wanted to be when we grew up."

For me, I always wanted to be a cop. ALWAYS.

So, I went to college, got a degree in Criminal Justice......and.....became a cop.

I always wanted to be a cop until I became a cop. Then all I wanted to do is NOT be a cop. My childhood dream wasn't what I thought it would be. Could have been because I was in a small town.

So, I regrouped......went back to college to become a teacher. I had NEVER wanted to be a teacher. Both my mom and sister were in education and I swore I would never do it. And yet, all these many years later, here I am.

And I love what I do.

I often wonder if I would have gone ahead and taken the job with the Dallas PD when offered, where my life would be today.

So..................

I always have been artistic, and I've always had a sense of humor. Believe it or not, I always wanted to make cartoons.

I wanted to be the first female professional baseball play... I want to do flips on the field like Ozzie Smith... I was odd.

Then I wanted to be a Senator... one year on the Hill quickly changed my mind about that.

My sister found a tape of an "interview" she did with me when I was about 5. I was going to be a baseball player, a power hitter for the Boston Red Sox.

I gradually migrated to football....which led me to college...and then landed in the Army. No real left turn along the way. Slight adjustments, but nothing drastic.

I wanted to fly F-14s off the deck of aircraft carriers. But me messing up in high school put an end to that. But I did join the Navy and instead of flying Tomcats off the deck I launched em.

And now I'm the Assistant IT guy at an electronics manufacturing company.

I don't know. Limbaugh gets that sort of money for hosting a THREE hour show, so I figure I'm probably worth $533 million to host a FOUR hour show.

Seriously, I wouldn't last very long on the radio. It doesn't work well when you insult your listeners and callers on a regular basis. At least not in the talk-radio format.
