Default Wade Vs Washington Vs Clark Vs Crummey Vs Fabini Vs Geisinger Vs Matua

The article in the breaking news about Wade on the bubble is the point behind this thread. I think its safe to say that Rinehart will be on this team. He is a third round pick and has been getting nothing but praise and has backed it up on the field. I personally think that one of the Fabini/Wade combo will be cut and not make the final 53. Id rather Wade honestly. I would have no reservation taking 3 rookies on the final 53. I also think its a lock for Heyer to make this team as well. Buges loves him and he has showed he can play last year. Wade and Fabini are both old but if I had to pick one I would say Fabini because he did step it up last year when we needed him. Id like to take Fabini, Heyer, Crummy and Rinehart as our backups. If we ever needed a 10th we have Lorenzo Alexander who could fill in incase of an emergency. I hope we could put Clark on the practice squad because it looks like we hit the UDFA pool very well this year with Crummey, Clark and Brown. If Brown and Clark can grow and get the work in this season and get better we could have out future OL waiting in the wings. I haven't heard much about Geisinger, Matua or Washington. To me I think they are just camp bodies to take up reps to keep our key starters and reserves health. Your thoughts?

I would rather Fabini over Wade. Wade gets injured too frequently. Fabini's not that great but he's consistently healthy.

And I think Heyer sucks. I had hopes for him... but he got munished against the Colts DE that's like 230-240lbs. He even got bull rushed by the small guy. I think Heyer gave up like 3 sacks in that game. Heyer is serviceable against weak competition (ala back ups or crappy starters). But if we go into the playoffs again, we're going to be facing another Kerney. Thus, Heyer can't be the backup to Jansen. The odds of Jansen remaining healthy suck.

Crummey looked fine against 2nd stringers and better against weaker competition.

    Reinhart has looked good.

Our backup center (I can't spell his last name... starts with a G) looked fine too.

I agree with you about keeping Crummey and letting go of Wade. Crummey is capable of playing multiple positions, most importantly center...hopefully, Crummey won't have to play center this season. While Wade is only capable of playing Tackle; and we need versatile lineman who can play T/G, or G/C...Wade just doesn't fit that bill IMO. Also, we already have Rinehart, Heyer, and Fabini who can all play Tackle if they are called upon. I also agree that Clark should be stashed on the PS, so he can gain experience this season in hopes of making the 53 man roster next year.

Wade trained at LG a couple of years ago. He was supposed to replace Dockery but we then got Pete Kendall. Whether he's good at that spot or not, he was a beast at LG in Madden that year.

Don't cut Wade's versatility short. He's not just an old guy that gets injured.

I know Wade tried to play LG last pre season after Dockery signed with Buffalo , but I thought he couldn't get the job done, so the FO went out and traded for Kendall. If Wade had been able to play LG, then I don't think we would had gone and gotten Kendall, at least that's my logic.

Wade's play is the reason we traded for Kendall. He sucks at LG.

Well, we did several silly things under Gibbs II. For example, we had a fine safety in Ryan Clark. Then we "upgraded" to Adam Archie. Granted, Kendall probably is much better than Wade at LG. I'm just saying that I wouldn't take the Gibbs' assessments of his own players to heart.

He may have. I don't recall seeing him play there. But that wasn't the point I was making. I was just saying that he could probably play LG if in a pinch. Now, if he's better than our rookies at LG... that's up to the coaches to decide this training camp.

Yea I never really jumped on the Heyer bandwagon either and don't see what's so great about him. I mean, when Jansen and Thomas go down(which seems to be every damn year), our line sucks. I think he gets a lot of DC media love because he's a Terp.

He could have played A LOT worse. Considering he is a UDFA and he is with the best OL coach in the league. He can improve and its only his second year.
