I once had a Redskins fan tell me that Marion Barber was much better than Portis prior to this season... I laughed told him to watch what happened to Barber when he was a premier back

Wrong thread. That goes in the "Smartest things ever said" thread.

Some of the stupidest things I have heard:

"We don't want to show opponents our entire playbook during preseason." Newsflash: Zorn never had "a playbook." He has never run an NFL offense in his life prior to last season. We are showing everything we have at any given time.

    "Demarcus Where"

"JC will look better in his second year in the system." That gem was thrown around before his second season with Saunders, it is now being used again.

"Portis is a great blocker." You don't even want your star RB blocking. That is as embarrassing as when fans of other teams said "Vick is a great scrambler, or Vince Young is a great runner."

"Portis is our offense." Newsflash: Our offense sucks. Every year.

Had we dumped Portis years ago as suggested, we might actually have an offensive line right now. But that requires way too much intelligence from our failure of an FO.

The dumbest thing I hear any fan say is how a player is washed up, or will never be any good because they had one bad game.

I wouldn't call it something a fan says but their overall perception. One thing I always laugh about is how fans tend to over value late round draft picks. It happens everywhere including here. You know what I mean... Drafting guys in the 4th-7th rounds and penciling them in to contribute or potentially start is absurd. It's very rare that a 4-7th round pick ever starts or even makes a decent contribution. Instead everyone points to the Tom Brady's, Marques Colston and Chris Horton's (to throw a home reference in there). People just don't realize how rare this really is.

Not redskins related, but my personal favorite came from a Ravens fan at a Titans' game in 05 or 06. The Titans beat the ravens and as we were leaving the stadium I here this guy say "Well all I have to say is we have a ring, and they don't"

I'm sorry, but what does a 5-year old superbowl win have to do with the present? It doesn't change the fact that your team was outplayed today. In fact it makes it seem worse because your "superbowl" team was beaten by a team without a ring that was in the middle of a rebuilding season. That would be like me saying "well we have 3 rings and they don't" everytime the redskins lose.

You don't want your RB blocking?

    I may've misinterpreted this post - but if I haven't. Oh dear.

Correct. You want your star RB running or receiving. Not blocking.

Pass protection is a fundamental skillset for all RBs. You can't have your guy running routes or running the ball on every single play.

A dope sitting next to me at the 2006 season opener would yell and scream like an ass that Brunell should have thrown to (insert receiver's name) on every running play. By the end of the 1st quarter I was about to slug him but he wandered off and never came back.

I went to the beatdown of the Giants during the '05 playoff run. A huge group of us were being taunted by 3 Giants "fans" who had to be drunk, high, or both before the game even started. The "leader" (I guess) was wearing a black and white Eli Manning jersey, and was telling us that he was more of a fan than the rest of us because he spent $500 on a black and white jersey.

Him and his friends were ejected before halftime for trying to start a fight with one guy and dumping a couple beers on a 12 year old kid.

Seriously, don't even bother with it. It isn't worth it.

That the Skins need to change the uniforms and helmet logo.
