I couldn't help but say, every time I opened up the door, "Co-stanz-a!"
It looked like this except it was blue. 1971 Plymouth Fury.
My first car was a 1963 Chevy II
First car I bought was a 1970 Chevy Nova SS 396

A white 84 VW Scirocco
Funny thing is, my current car is actually a year older, 83 GTI![]()
1983 VW Scirocco, best handling car I've ever driven.
And while searching for images of this car, I learned that VDub is producing a 2009 model of the Scirocco! I know what my next car is going to be!

Scirocco II is what you had, it's still on the same chassis (the A1 or MK1 chassis) as the Rabbit which was from 75-84. Although the Scirocco continued to be sold until 88 or 89 I think, it was always an A1 chassied car. The Scirocco II was a cosmetic re-design only and was released in 81 I believe. This is the original Scirocco, they were significantly lighter than the later ones, as the early Rabbits were compared to the later Rabbits and Rabbit GTIs. Mechanically speaking, your Scirocco was identical to my current 83 GTI. Same chassis, suspension, engine, trans, brakes, ect...just wrapped in a different body.
As for the new Scirocco, supposedly an absolute BEAST of a car. In Europe, it's got VW's excellent 1.4 liter, 166hp twin charged (super and turbo charged) engine as an option that'll get you 40 something mpg highway. Unfortunately, as of right now, there are zero plans to bring that engine, or the Scirocco, to the United States. They seem to think it'll compete too much with the GTIWe never get the good cars over here

First car I ever owned was a 78 Jeep CJ5. Spent a few thousand more dollars than what it was worth, but oh well. Learn by doing.
'67 Ford Galaxie convertible....fire engine red....paid $500....
Yup, a lot of you had those "cool" parents. This is what I got:
Mine was white - the '76 Bi-Centennial Model! OOHhhhh!!! It did handle the Dukes of Hazard treatment pretty well. In hindsight it was the perfect indestructible car though I hated it at the time.
