Default NFL.com: No matter how you slice it, humble pie being served by Redskins

"As the final seconds ticked away at the rapidly emptying Lincoln Financial Field, Clinton Portis raised his index finger and pointed at the scoreboard that revealed yet another Redskins victory. The Washington running back stood in a loose huddle near midfield, then pointed to each quadrant of the stadium -- 1-2-3-4 -- unconsciously counting off Washington's consecutive number of wins, the last pair coming over NFC East rivals Dallas and Philadelphia, on their turf, nonetheless.

Washington's 23-17 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday was a mugging in which the Redskins rang up 23 unanswered points and bulldozed the Eagles' top-ranked run defense for 203 yards, while limiting Philadelphia to 58 rushing yards. It was a bare-knuckle pummeling that should have humbled an opponent that's starting to be exposed like Kimbo Slice.
Yet, these were the words that came from Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who might not have fully digested the physical handling his team endured, which also left it 2-3 and deeper in the NFC East basement:
"Not to take anything away from them, but there is no way this team is better than us.""

"Defensively, Washington is hardly a team that will be mentioned with Tennessee, Baltimore, Minnesota, Carolina or even Philadelphia."

thats the only problem with the article i have. where top ten in like most categories i think? defense should definately build a chip on their shoulder.

And there's no way Washington is better than Philadelphia?

The Redskins are better than a lot of teams right now because they know who and what they are. They are a team that moves the chains and stops the run. They can even win, like they did on Sunday, when one of their star players -- wide receiver Santana Moss -- doesn't catch a pass. (He didn't complain, either.)

The Redskins are better than a lot of teams because they believe in their legitimacy, even if others don't.
Love the dig at T.O. there lol ...

    Great article ...

We are hardly a team that can mentioned with them? Excuse me? Look at the offenses we've played this seaspn: Giants, Saints, Cardinals, Cowboys, Eagles. All of them are toward the top of the league in offensive production, and we managed to stop or stall ALL of them, compared to what they've done against other teams. Even playing all these great offenses, we're still ranked #12 or #13 in total defense. That's outstanding. I can't wait to see what this defense can do against st. louis, detroit, and cleveland.

Tennesee has had a soft schedule compared to us. They have a good D, but I think this defense can be a top 5 defense.

    Great article ...

I liked the dig on TO that Coach Z gave during his presser after the game. Talking about Santana, he had mentioned the fact that no one on the team is complaining about not getting the ball, "like some other players that we know of, on...some other teams." -paraphrased. I was rolling when I heard him say that.

He did, but it's only because he was choking on his "Campbell" soup!

"Not to take anything away from them"? Come'on McNabb that's exactly what you did when you said you were still better than us. That sentence makes no sense.

Great article. This is who we are. We love it, but we stay relaxed and ready. Always gotta remember, don't let our highs get too high or our lows get too low. Great victory today.
