Default The Holocaust, Tarantino-style: Jews scalping Nazis

Tarantino's movies, are always good. This headline is a little bit to much like an Oliver Stone movie for my taste. I think the difference between Tarantino and Oliver Stone is: Tarantino makes fictional entertainment, controversial but respected within his genre and by the box office... Stone makes bad fiction, and trys to pass it off as history.

BERLIN - For weeks, Germany's tabloids and culture pages have been preoccupied with Quentin Tarantino's film "Inglorious Bastards," slated to start filming next week in Germany.

While the tabloids are drooling over the movie's star, Brad Pitt, who is moving with his wife Angelina Jolie and their children to a villa close to Berlin ("The most beautiful couple in Wannsee," one headline declared), the serious media is focusing on another angle: Is Germany ready for a Tarantino-style treatment of World War II?

Been waiting for this one for years.... I was not a big fan of Kill Bill. After this I wish he would get on to the Vega Brothers movie.
Two of my favorite genre's: WW2 & Tarantino. Reservoir Dogs meets The Dirty Dozen. Awesome.

The difference between Tarantino and Oliver Stone is Tarantino churns out genre movies that are unoriginal and Stone is a great filmmaker with a far left leaning viewpoint.
“I just wanted to say to the fans … in D.C. and across the nation, they’ve been great for us, cheering us on. At away games they show up in the masses and at home they really made it feel like a home-field advantage. We said this when I was in college, ‘We got a chance to sit at the dinner table and experience success and it was a good meal. But now we want to go back to get dessert.’ We’ll be ready to get dessert next year.”

Tarantino is hands-down my favorite director/producer/writer.

I have everything he has been involved with on DVD including 4 Rooms (VHS for that one).

But yeah, I'm excited as hell about this one. Kill Bill was his best work other than Pulp Fiction....can't wait.

    This should be good

And imo, the Germans should get over it. If they can't stand the time they shouldn't have done the crime.

While I agree the Germans should get over it, there have been many times where I have seen posters on this board say they're tired of being blamed for . . . on second thought, nevermind.

The thought of Tarantino making a movie about the Holocaust makes me cringe.

I'm remembering an interview done by Tarantino- where he basically said he took statements such as yours as a real compliment.

The reason? - Because his movies are NOT violent. It's just that he does violence very well. (this was an interview done around the time of Pulp Fiction, not Kill Bill, lol). Anyways- I think there was only 1 person that died in Pulp Fiction... and there were a few fist fights. By any standard you couldn't call that violent. But everyone who left the theater came away thinking they'd just watched a very violent movie. The reason? He does violence so well- hence, the compliment.

So I expect this to be similar. Probably narrow in scope but extremely intense. And that's not been done in a movie about the Hollocaust. I guess you could argue either way about whether it should be shown- but when you read about guys like Dr. Mengele, and the relative kid gloves that Hollywood has treated these monsters with- it is at least something to consider that the world might deserve to really know - similar to what, imo, was a breakthrough movie with Gibson's Passion.

To be fair . . . Kill Bill DID have people chopping off like 1,000 limbs and blood spraying everywhere.

Although it was so fake it was pretty much funny.

you didn't read my post. Bonus points if you find the part of my post that makes your point irrelevant

Not sure which part you are referring to so I don't receive any bonus points.

However, I wasn't directly disagreeing with you just when you watch that scene it's kind of funny to then come back and read he doesn't do violence.

Stone's viewpoint is based on the tin foil hat society.... He doesn't do history; he collects rumors and innuendo and no matter how false, he reports the most salacious...

Tarantino doesn't report history. He makes entertaining original films with varying degrees of success with widely varying budgets.
