Default why can't I opt out of social security?

just sayin - it appears I need to make over a certain amount per year to opt out (or not be taxed on it, but then I wouldnt get any SS).

I, for one, will never ask for that money, and I look at my retirement as my responsibility.

so whats the deal? is there a form I can sign or something?

    Two ways:

    1. You can hide so far out in the sticks, and not make any money or file taxes.

    2. You can give up your US citizenship and move to a different country.

What the heck do you think this is, a free country?

If you can figure out a way to opt out, let me know.

Hmm, get out of the country?

The money won't be there anyways. Right now old people don't want to work until they die, so they're making us work forever. Talk about selfish, lol.

exactly the point. I look at the people social security is suppose to help now and in future generations and realize - if I dont take care of myself and my family, there is going to be nothing left for me.

this IS america, so you should be able to opt out. I mean, that is 6.5% I could really use these days.

and at anyone who is counting on social security in 40 years.
