cook the turkey on its breast that way the meat will not be dry
This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

I say smoke or fry the turkey. Once you go this way you never go back. I am going to use my brand new oil-less infrared turkey fryer this year. Used it for a chicken and it was amazing, just as good as oil frying.
Add my vote to brining the turkey ahead of time. Combination of salt, sugar, and a few fresh herbs (there are lots of recipes out there, find one that looks good to you.) Brining results in really moist white meat.

I've got a turducken that's being roasted in my roaster/slow cooker.
What're you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem!
A few years ago my Brother-in-Law deep fried a turkey and that had to be the best turkey I've ever had. Make sure you defrost the turkey first or you risk having an epic explosion.
