My criticism of Michael Wilbon on Sean Taylor(Video) w/ response from Wilbon.

I asked Michael Wilbon this question pertaining to the comments he made about Sean Taylor almost a year ago. This question was asked in late January 2007 at the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland. I really was not very satisfied with his response. He seemed upset when I asked the question and did not let me finish what I wanted to say. I also felt that he dodged the question in a way. Where as I am very biased on this topic and I do not feel like I should judge his response because personally, he could never atone for what he wrote.

As hurried as the opinion was, it was the opinion that the vast majority of people felt upon hearing Taylor had been shot. As Wilbon says, even Antrelle Rolle (who I believe is related to Taylor?) said that people were waiting for Taylor in Miami. His home had been broken into nights before, and regardless of the fact that Sean had become a changed man, he did have a very colorful past with less-than-savory types.

Knowing what we know now, we see this for the tragedy that it truly is. In the hours and first few days following Sean's death, many of us - and many of Sean's friends - thought it was something that had been planned as a form of retribution tied to his past.

Its kind of meant to be a joke, he probably doesnt even have a dog because he has no heart as is. He hates washington sports and always talks down about them, **** him and his make believe dog hes a chicago homer, i dont see how anyone listens to what he says anymore, his opinions suck

Yeah, I honestly feel like he gave you a sufficient response though. At least I remember thinking it while sitting there (haven't had a chance to go back and watch the video). Obviously it was a stinging article to a lot of die-hard fans, but I think he explained his intentions well.

I honestly don't think he deserves a lot of the hatred he gets on here because of it. His points were valid (to a certain degree), the timing was just very bad. I just think we all need to have thicker skin and realize where he is coming from and to not deify Sean Taylor and to not try and rid the world of any badmouthing or criticism of him (see Lombardi's Kid Brother's post, it sums up how I feel pretty well).

Wilbon can be a prick sometimes as evidenced by not allowing the TC to finish his question. On the other hand I don't mind his journalism and watch PTI regularly. As others have already noted the timing of that particular article was quite misguided, however his response in this video seemed justifiable. Around the time of Sean's death we as Redskins fans were hypersensitive to the events that transpired so Wilbon should not have been the least bit surprised at the backlash he recieved from our fanbase.

I thought it was a good response from Wilbon. The timing did suck though of his original piece.
