Default Does JC deserve one more year?

I happen to think he does. He has made major improvements this season and has done a solid job, not great but solid.

The three biggest criticisms about the guy were:
    1. turnovers
    2. going through progressions
    3. winning games late.

Well the turnovers are down significantly.
He has been going through his progressions a lot more this yaer and it shows.
He has won games in the 4th. See arizona, NO. He also led the team to a go ahead score against St. Louis but the D ****ed up.

I think JC has a solid foundation with which to buid upon.

He needs to take the improvements and build upon them.

I think the major area of improvement is quicker decision making. When he works with Zorn more and studies more the decisions will come quicker and quicker. He will develop that ability, and make no mistake about it, that ability can definitely be honed. Poker players will understand this. If you see a situation over and over again your response becomes more and more automatic and you are able to react faster and make better decisions.

I think JC will be fantastic next year. I think he deserves one more chance.

I say stick with him at the beginning of next year...if we are no better than 3-3 after the first 6 games next year it's time to start lookin' for other options.

Has he earned one more year?

As the season has progressed, has Jason?

he has one more year left on his contract so he should be back and starting, but if half way through the season we are .500 or worse and his play is still average, then bench him

Well, he should be our QB for the next four games. However, next year, we need to have a QB competition. Whoever plays the best should be our starter, whether it be Jason Campbell, Colt Brennan or Todd Collins.

Deserve? Yes. Still classified as young and still learning with Zorn.

Will he get it? Depends on how the rest of our season plays out.

Only if we make the playoffs. Otherwise time to get trade value for him.

Can we all not wait until the season is over before asking these questions. It is getting kinda redundant here now.

    He deserves another year.

I am far from impressed with his play over the past couple weeks, but we have to be absolutely positive before we let him go. I really hope he can progress.

I wouldn't say he deserves it.

Would it outrageous to give him one? No.

You realistically have to see what is out there this off season/how he does next training camp.

If he was in this system for years then no but this is first year in this system so I would give him till the first half of next season. The qb is the first to be criticzed when the team is losing but remember folks this is his first year in this system and we do have a winning record ( for now) lets not give up hope on him yet. Sad to say this but he is the only qb on our roster who gives us the best chance to compete.

Yes he deserves one more year in this system to prove he is worth a new contract.

Can't base it on record. You've lose to assume this won't happen, but...what if Campbell plays lights out and throws for 4 touchdowns a game, but we give up 30 points each in our losses? Can't put that on Jason, can you?

Jason's rookie contract runs out at the end of 2009. I think, given the coaching change and the fact that Gibbs let him rot on the bench for a year and a half, in addition to the fact that he is making improvements (while he has less time to throw the ball lately), it's only fair to give him another FULL year unless he goes through a Rex Grossman-like tankage (he hasn't even done that in a game yet).

High risk move. If JC pans out than we look like fools for trading him as he's entering his prime, but if he proves to be fools gold than we don't get stuck paying him big bucks and we get a high draft pick in return.

I seriously doubt the FO tries to shop JC this offseason. My guess is that they will allow him to enter the final year of his rookie contract and see how he does next year before extending him or allowing him to walk.

SoCal, what would you think of trading JC for a 1st, then drafting Alex Mack (C, California) and Duke Robinson (G, Oklahoma) with our two 1sts, signing Jordan Gross in FA (RT, Panthers), and going with Colt at QB? That would give us a starting line of Samuels, Duke, Mack, Thomas, and Gross, with Rhinehart, Heyer, K. Brown, and Geisenger as young backups. Disclaimer: I don't suggest we do this, just playing a little fantasy FO.
