If Mike Smith doesn't get coach of the year honors, it's a travesty.

Tony Soprano should get a lot of consideration as well.
I would give it to Tony Soprano over him.

I nominate Jim Zorn.
I really like how fast Mike Smith turned that team around and he really seems to have a strong bond with the team. Smith didn't do it alone though the front office nailed that Matt Ryan pick and did well in free agency.
The only candidates I consider to be in the running are Mike Smith, Tony Sparano, and Jeff Fisher. And possibly even Belicheat if the Pats can win the AFC East. I think Sparano should win it.
Rod Marinelli

I honestly thought the Dolphins were better than their record last year. They only won one game, but they played a lot of good teams right down to the wire. It doesn't surprise me that a "tough guy" coach(rather than Cam Cameron, who is a very smart offensive guy but seems a bit softer than your typical head coach) could come in and turn some of those close losses into victories.
The Falcons on the other hand...I just had no hope for them. I was sure that they would be bad for a long long time. Mike Smith should win coach of the year for sure.
Not to take anything away from Coughlin, b/c he's done a good job, but not many people will consider it COY worthy leading the team that won the SB the previous year to a division title the next. Sure, you have all the off the field issues NY went through, but I don't think Coughlin is more worthy than a few of the others. Again, not taking anything away from what they have done this season.![]()
