My mother in law, who lives with us, has a medium and large coffee press. She's drank it that way growing up in Argentina and living in Peru. I've drank it, but it is a little too strong for me. It's like an espresso on an espresso. Plus, you are constantly spitting out coffee grounds. The only garbage I guess with my machine is the coffee filters, but I'm sure there are some bio-degradable ones somewhere or a permanent filter somewhere.

You don't have to make it so strong. It's completely adjustable. I'm telling you, once you've got the press down, nothing compares. I've actually stopped drinking coffee and mostly drink tea.

When I visit my friend in Memphis every year, this is what he has, because they are casual coffee drinkers. I'm not really impressed with the taste. I've even gotten away from ground coffee and prefer whole beans. I have a whole bean grinder on my coffee maker. Put the beans in, put the filter in, put the water in, set the timer to 5:30AM and I have fresh ground coffee waiting for me at 6:30.
I don't understand this logic. I'm the only one in my household that drinks coffee right now, so I brew 2 cups and I drink all of it. Not sure why one has to brew "a whole pot".

The time it takes the Keurig to heat up, I think it's a wash.

French press is awesome. It's one of the treats of going camping.

I bought a press this year for camping, and I agree!

    Why just for camping?

People can get what they want, but I was thinking a single person for convenience it would be easier to clean and such. When I was single, I brewed also, since there was no Keurig back then.

No particular reason. I think it's more a psychological thing at this point—associate great coffee with camping. But I've got my brewer down to a science, so I'm happy with it.

I think I've mentioned it before but if we pass a natural spring we make sure to collect some water for coffee the next morning. Does it taste different? Who knows.

I got turned onto french press coffee 3-4 years ago and have enjoyed it exclusively ever since. What a great cup of coffee.

Since my prior review of the Keurig machine I've gotten to the point where I never use it. My Mother-in-law is the only one in the family who does. Aside from the weak coffee and slightly off taste, I discovered that the water in the reservoir can get really funky if you don't empty it out pretty frequently. I can certainly understand the desire for convenience, especially for the casual coffee drinker. However all things considered, I'm just not a fan.

Besides, since I can't compost anymore the grounds from my coffee are about the only "good" stuff I get to put on my plants these days.

There is an awful commercial for a coffee press for K cups that plays every once in a while down here. I can't find it on youtube yet. It's hysterical.
