Dang I haven't seen this thread in awhile. So far this year is starting off right for me, my technique is really improving on deadlifts and I was able to pull a clean 495 the week before last. Now im doing triples with 475 with ease and speed so I think I got at least a single at 515 in me right now. My end of the year goal is to pull 600 at a bodyweight of 185 and I'm feeling pretty damn confident about reaching it, especially since I've been focusing on engaging my hamstrings more and really progressing with my speed work.

PCS - Chains? You training with Orakpo? Ha! Seriously, how's it been? Do you workout at home or at the gym?
Not with Brian. No way. I have better things to do than get humiliated by that guy. The chains are to me,an outstanding training tool,( I did a bunch of research before using them and even more since starting), and have helped me in a couple of ways. One is that they're helping me get the strength back in the chest and shoulder area after that pec tear nearly 2 years ago. They're also adding even more variables to my workouts so that I can keep things fun. That's big right there. After being a gym rat as long as I have been, that can be tough. Working out is about as much mental as it is physical imho. Starting late next month I'll switch to using the chains on dumbells. Should work nicely on selected exercises and I'm looking forward to seeing the results. I'll also start doing deadlifts again.

Speaking of which, outstanding work Fresh. That's some damn fine weight you're picking up there. Especially at that body weight,(my strongest was near that weight as well). Hope you make that 600 goal.

Thanks PCS! I'll get there eventually, mind over matter, its never a question of if but when

And I agree with you on how great chains can be. I've done a lot of band work and the accommodating resistance can be a great tool. Especially, when working on the various sticking points of a particular lift.

Great job Pick! I bet you'll be happy as hell once you hit that 315. That 3 plate milestone always feels good to reach, no matter the exercise, but I bet especially on bench (or so i've heard, I haven't benched in a long time and I sucked at it anyways).

**** that is what I meant. My goal was to get three 45 plates on each side. Sorry for the typo. It looks very cool

I usually work out my upper body twice a week. I usually do about 6 sets of some sort of chest exercise each time, whether it's db press or flyes. Well, yesterday I, for some reason, ended up doing 8 sets of flyes. The first 2 were easy, and the next 6 I went hard. Is that way too much? And if so, should I just proceed on Monday like nothing happened or take an extra day off? It seems to me like doing one really, really hard day would help to mix things up as long as you don't do that every time.

    Thanks Soup!

I am going to be starting "Insanity" the day after the Superbowl.

Excited to see what the daily 45 minutes of hell will do!

I think you should break it up for different body parts. For example, Tuesday: Chest/Triceps/Shoulders and Thursday: Back/Biceps. Yes 8 set of flyes is too much. If you are doing chest routine you want some press and some flyes in the same day. Also get legs and core workouts in the mix. Squats and deadlifts help you upper body get strong, as well as, strengthen your core.

I've been hitting the gym steady as always. Trying to slim down a bit for a vacation coming at the end of march. I've dropped about 10lb so far but my strength has still been going up.

As far as the chains go, where did you buy them?

I can't do splits. An elbow nerve problem has forced me to stop doing arm workouts as well as overhead shoulder presses of any sort. Because of that, I just don't enjoy lifting anymore. I hate going to the gym because I have to do similar exercises each time or just a lot of one. I've done the whole heavy lifting thing with squats and deadlifts as well as heavy bench and overhead press, and it wore me out. My joints felt awful after a couple months of it, and I don't feel like it's really worth it in the long run.

I'm sticking to lat pulldowns, lat rows, db bench, flyes, and lateral raises. Not much else to do except occasionally swim and run.

I like mixing it up as well using elastic bands especially on bench. Take the bands and run them under the bench and hook them on each side the bar. Then take a db or plate and hold the band on the ground directly under the bench.

I've been going 4 days on and 1 day off for awhile now lots of heavy compounds
    Chest/biceps
    back/traps
    shoulders/triceps
    legs

    day off repeat

But i'm cutting pretty hard right now and I'm about to switch up my program incorpating alot of bar complexes/ crossfit type routines to give my body a break and help me cut.

I did the ab ripper x from p90x yesterday that is a nice little quick ab workout.
