Default The roadmap to war- screw peace

Forget about peace. There will never be peace in the middle east for a simple reason. Each side doesn't want the other side to even exist.

The Israeli feel that all of Irsael proper/Gaza Strip/West Bank is land given to them by God and only Jews have right to that land. All Palestinians should be sent to Jordon or elsewhere.

The Palestinians feel that the land is theirs since they have live there for years and they believe the Jews should be pushed into the sea.

So there will never be peace. So it's time to stop this nonsense of pushing for peace that in their hearts neither party wants.

I say we should be pushing for war. Let them get into a war, so horrific that the loser will be booted out for once and for all. Don't worry, Israel will crush the Palestinians and any other middle eastern country. Yeah- here in America we will have to suffer oil shortages as Arab boycott selling us any oil.

Arabs only understand WAR- so lets give them one. A complete humuliating defeat at the hands will set them in their place. All Jews should go to Israel to fight for their state. Men, Women and Children will be fighting this war.

To start this war off- the cia or mossad should eliminate abbu massum, leader of hamas and arafat. That will spark the sides to war. Israel should invade gaza strip and west bank and start forcing palestians into Jordan.

The only way you'll solve this is by basically having one side utterly destroyed.

I don't know, I think it is a little more complicated than that.

It's only complicated because it's become a political issue at home. I think we should let em go at it. The outcome is easy to predict. Bush is showing great leadership undertaking this.

Well today the PM for Palestine and Israel all said that the peace progress will go on even if militants try to stop it. This is a huge change in the mindset of Sharon, and actually believe we might be getting closer to peace. We can only hope. Hopefully the palestinans will wake up and see it is the militants that are trying to stop it not Israel.

I think we can do a little better than this, riggo. And no, I'm not a democrat.

No you can't. You can't have peace when the sides don't want it. The Palestinian people want Israel to cease to exist. The hard line Irsael believe all the terrority is land given to them by God and want the Palestinians sent to Jordan.

So, instead of wasting energies on peace noone really wants; we should be inching both sides to war and let them fight it out.

Let's assume that peace is indeed futile (which it probably is in our lifetime).
Why would we want to get directly involved? A better alternative would be to declare that the US is giving the Arab extremists just what they say they want - we are extricating ourselves entirely from the Middle East. We will insist no outside parties become involved, but we will cease and desist all aid to both Israel and all the surrounding Arab regimes. We withdraw all troops from the Gulf. Arabs and Israelis decide their own fates.

This makes far more sense than trying to provoke a war, since that would breed even more hatred against us, and reinforce paranoias about America being the root cause of all Arab suffering. We step aside, and the deluded masses who have been duped for so long into believing that Israel's survival has been solely predicated upon America's umbrella of defense will probably try and rise up against "the Zionists." They're perfectly capable of rushing to their own destruction without any manipulation or prodding by us. Then the Arab governments, particularly Syria and Jordan, will have an interesting choice to make. Without the Soviet Empire to protect them, they face certain annihilation if they take on the Israeli army. Do they go down in a blaze of glory for the defense of a people they care nothing about, or do they wait on the sidelines while Israel wipes out any uprisings and then proceeds to dictate borders.

Well, if we withdraw the support we've traditionally sent to Israel it might make things a little more interesting. It's no knock on the Israelis to note that our billions have had a lot to do with that military might you're proposing to crush the Palestinians with.

I'm not a fan of this cute bloodbath idea. I share the pessimistic outlook, but if forced to make a choice I'd have to choose a relative stalemate with low-level bloodletting to mass annhilation of a people.

The problem is that a stalemate with a few hundred casualties a year will eventually overtake the carnage that would happen if we let them go at it.

This new PM abbas seems to actually be trying to do something here...I assume that Arafat is undermining his actions because he dislikes the power that he was forced to hand over....Its too bad Hamas declared they wouldn't agree to a cease fire ....oh shocker Israel took out one of their political leaders...

I think its bullsh*t that there are military wings and political wings of Hamas, there isn't any difference one hand knows what the other is doing so there should be no mercy at all for them. Let them all die!!

Also what right do these Palestinians have to this land they claim....none what so ever!!!

They have live there. The land belongs to both Irsaelis and Palestinians. Ideally they can live side by side and in peace. When hell freezes over that may happen.

If you are going to use that arguement; then what right do you have to your land. The Indians lived in America for over 30,000 years before they got mostly wiped out since the 1600's. All of the United States is really Indian land- they have more rights than you do.

Any post on middle east peace is fruitless. There will never be peace until both sides decide they want it. The Palestinian people don't want it and don't even recognize Israel. They have ingrained that into their kids.

Israelis believe these are lands promised to them by God and non-Jews must be expelled.

Also, what makes it more complicated is that both Islam and Judism claim the same holy sight. The Dome of Rock for Muslims and The Great Temple for Jews. That site was the second temple for Jews. For Muslims, that's the site where it's believed Muhammad went to heaven and recieve the words of the Quaran. At one point all Muslims even prayed towards Jersualeum instead of Mecca as they do today.

What happen today is the norm. There will never be peace until both sides want it and can live with each other.

War is the determining factor. Almost every boundry in the world is set as a result of a war. It's accepted. Israel can claim those lands as a result of the war they won in 1967 when they were attacked.
