Default Caps vs Maple Leafs 3/5/2009 Game Thread

Starting this one a bit early. Last two home games have been a disaster. Hopefully this won't carry over tonight and hopefully the fans will be as loud and proud as ever. I also have a quick question. This will be the first time since last year that I will be holding upper deck tickets. Anyone know if they still allow upper deck ticket holders to go down to the glass and watch warmups? Lets Go Caps.

Finally back from Cali. and get to go to my first game in over a month. I expect the Caps to beat up on the Leafs, and punish them for their last two pathetic games. If the Caps don't put on a strong showing, I'm going to have to start questioning the leadership on this team. I'm now of the opinion that Brash should be coveting the C until next season. He'll hold the little children responsible, regardless of their newly attained "start stature".

If we don't bounce back tonight, we have little hope in the post-season.

This a huge game for the Caps. They need to shake the funk of the last 2 games, and the fan base needs to be put at ease. I wonder if GMGM has been watching the goaltending over the past few games. He must believe that BJ is coming back strong. I sure hope so because you know karma is going to bring us the Pens in the first round.

I agree with Jo. I don't know what the hell is going on with the team right now, but they need to start getting their stuff together because we are going to be embarrassed in the playoffs.

What about Kronwall, do we know if he's in? I liked what I saw of him last game. also, who's sitting to let Nyls back in?

BB wouldn't say which forward will sit when asked about it earlier.

I read in the Post today that he was sent down to Hershey. Does that mean that we can bring someone up like Alzner?

It's really not that dire, although losing to a leafs team that's this depleted would be embarassing. i don't expect them to lose, but this is hockey not football, sometimes you slump for a few games. I'll remind everyone again that Detroit lost SIX games in a row around this time last season and the Flyers lost TEN games in a row in the 2nd half of last season. Both of those teams were in the final four last year and Detroit skated with the Cup.

It's not near time to panic, but you do want to see the work ethic increase, you want to see goalies controlling their rebounds, and you want to at least see the Caps "outplay" teams that they're better than. You may not win for whatever reason, bad bounces/hot goalie/shoddy officiating, but you at least want to see that they have the ability to go to another level with any matter of consistency. Now, if they're consistently getting outworked and outmuscled down low and in front of the goal then you worry, but two to three games of bad hockey isn't "game over."

Truer words never spoken. No panic. This team feels they can contend for the cup now they need to show it on the ice. I think they will tonight.
